Short Films. Community Potluck. Big Conversations.

Come together for an evening that’s a bit different — where food feeds the body and film feeds the imagination. We’re gathering at Castlemaine Gaol on Wednesday 25 February from 6.30pm to 8.45pm for shared stories, shared plates and shared thinking.

We’ll screen a selection of short films that explore how value moves through our community beyond money, then open the circle for conversation over a potluck meal. Bring a plate to share if you can, and bring your curiosity.

This event is free and open to all — a chance to reconnect, reconnect with local pioneers, and reimagine what future local economies might look like. Hosted by the Castlemaine Documentary Film Festival and Castlemaine Institute, with thanks to Old Castlemaine Gaol Precinct and Global Village Learning.

We’ve quietly been working behind the scenes on something big, and it’s time to share the first glimpse.

The Old Castlemaine Gaol Precinct is being reimagined as a place of learning, making, gathering and community life. A historic site once defined by confinement, now opening up to creativity, connection and possibility.

The website is a starting point. It shares the vision, the intent, and where we’re heading next. You’ll see that this is a precinct first, with many parts and many futures. Global Village Learning is one part of the story, not the whole of it.

Have a look, get a feel for what’s emerging, and stay close as things begin to unfold.

Join us for the *Share the Love Benefit* @ Old Castlemaine Gaol

With support from community radio MainFM, Castlemaine Mail, Mount Alexander Shire Council and the generosity of Global Village Learning, the Harcourt Bushfire Benefit Fair is set for Valentine’s Day on Saturday February 14 and will run from midday until late.

Featuring Bands, Markets, Art shows and more.
