Another fantastic day sewing at Willetton today, loads of beautifully made donations from our home sewing team and a big thank you to those who sewed round rugs and baby blankets on site today under interesting conditions. Thanks to all for bearing with my suggestion to make round floor rugs from donated squares.... I know you all love me haha 😀
A big Thank You to Jen who hosted today's bee and the volunteers who helped recover our storage, your help as always is very appreciated.

Trigger warning A Thank You but contains conversation of infant loss…….

💕💕💕On Wednesday I met up with Ann from Sweet Sews By Ann Ann has travelled from Victoria and bought close to 30 of these beautiful baby gowns with her. We deliver these gowns to WA hospitals for babies born sleeping. I personally think they are one of the most beautiful outfits I have seen for baby loss. Thank you Ann, it was lovely to meet you and your husband 💕💕

🪡Project Pattern Spotlight🪡

Lollipop bag/Niki Pump Bag
❣️We sew these bags and they are donated to Oncology wards for women after mastectomy surgery and palliative care units where they use a pump called a Niki syringe pump. This pump gives continuous medication and needs to be connected to a person for a certain period of time. To help the person move around with the pump we make a bag of a certain size that fits the pump nicely, has a strap to enable the person to have it over their shoulder or have it hanging on a chair nearby and has velcro or poppers to prevent the machine from falling out.
❣️We have a pattern that we have follow so we keep to a standard size and shape.
❣️There are best made with a sturdy duck cotton or even a light upholstery fabric. The pattern can be found within our group Get Scrubbed WA - Charitable Sewing For WA

Today our volunteers came together to celebrate with the theme “it’s your time to volunteer.”
Instead of an external guest speaker, I encouraged our volunteers to share their stories of volunteering with us. Yes we are a chatty bunch and to my surprise everyone obliged with such confidence. New learned that KIN dolls and bucket hats were not most persons favourites, and most loved their sewing 🧵 going off to places of appreciation.
Fair to say I think there was enough food. A BIG Thank You to those who helped set up and clean up, which is a compromise of a DIY function.
It was lovely 😻 to see all the sewing bee 🐝 participants able to meet one another.
Thank you to Volunteering WA and Lotterywest for sponsoring the day ❤️❤️
Please send us or post any photos you took during the morning.

Thank you to all who attended today’s Heathridge Sewing Bee 🐝 and to Susan for being host. Today was KIN Doll day although those who don’t enjoy sewing those got stuck into tote bags and baby wraps. Thank you to those who brought in donations they made at home.
💕KIN Doll stands for Kids In Need and we make these and give them ti children in transitional care and hospitals. We try and make most in Indigenous skin colours so that children have a ‘friend’ just like them.
This is a toy that children can cuddle and tell their secrets to.
At present we don’t have a lot in our stores but we always appreciate them.
Dianne Oliver is our KIN Doll coordinator
