SICK COOLGARDIE COUPLE STARVED DOG AND IGNORED HIS BROKEN LEG
Patula May Thomas, 35, and Jessie-James John Radecker, 34, have been convicted of animal cruelty after neglecting their dog, Caesar, so severely that he had to be euthanised.
Caesar was found in extremely poor condition, severely underweight, with access to only a small amount of contaminated water in a rusted container. He was also suffering from a broken leg that was left untreated.
Patula told inspectors that Caesar had broken his leg as a puppy but admitted she never took him to a veterinarian, leaving him to suffer in pain for a prolonged period.
Due to his poor prognosis for recovery, Caesar was humanely euthanised shortly after being surrendered.
The matter proceeded in the Kalgoorlie Magistrates Court in their absence, where the pair were collectively fined $8,000 and disqualified from owning any animals for five years.
