The RSL Serpentine Jarrahdale Sub Branch is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our much-loved comrade John Kirkpatrick.

John brought warmth, camaraderie, and a generous spirit to everything he did and leaves behind memories that will be cherished by all who knew him.

We hold his family close in our thoughts at this difficult time, and we are grateful for every moment shared in his company.

Lest We Forget.

Very saddened to learn of the passing of John 'Kirko' Kirkpatrick, a veteran, advocate, former councillor, and Honorary Freeman of the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale.

Mr Kirkpatrick served on the Serpentine Jarrahdale council for almost twenty years until 2015, and from when I first met him in 2020 he demonstrated to me that he still had an unwavering commitment to the people of the Shire; from improving the Byford footpath network and accessibility to public transport, to road safety and veteran's issues, John was never backward in coming forward.

I will miss John's counsel, experience, and his strong expectation that those in roles of authority behave in a disciplined and principled manner at all times. I will also miss seeing John on his mobility scooter riding along Abernethy Road, invariably on his way to sort things out.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who joined us at this morning's Dawn Service in Mundijong. To stand together in the quiet of the early hours and honour the sacrifice of those who served is a privilege, and your presence made it deeply meaningful.

A special thanks to the passionate locals who brought people together at the memorials in Byford, Serpentine and Jarrahdale. It's always wonderful to see like-minded members of our great community keeping this tradition alive in their own neighbourhoods - what you do truly matters.

Lest We Forget.
