WHS UPDATE | Safe Work Australia’s Best Practice Review

AALARA was proud to contribute a submission to Safe Work Australia’s Best Practice Review of the model WHS laws, which was published this week.

We advocated for practical, fit-for-purpose safety frameworks that deliver strong safety outcomes while recognising the realities of Australia’s amusement, leisure and recreation industry.

We’ll continue to advocate for consistent, effective and workable WHS requirements that support our operators and workforce.

AALARA on the Road – Ashton’s Circus

The Circus rolled into town and we couldn’t resist a day under the Big Top!

We had an absolute ball at What a fantastic family show! From the incredible performances and energy to the classic circus atmosphere, it was a wonderful reminder of just how special live circus entertainment is.

A huge thank you to 6th generation member of the Ashton family, Chantel for the invitation, we had such a great time! ❤️

Supporting our Australian circus community is so so important, particularly right now. These incredible businesses and families work hard to keep the tradition of circus alive while creating unforgettable experiences for families across the country.

AALARA Members... we need your insights on Working Holiday Maker visas!
Thank you to everyone who signed, forwarded and shared the petition to protect Working Holiday Maker (Backpacker) visas in Australia.
The Federal Government has announced planned changes to the Working Holiday Maker program, including at least a 43% reduction in second and third visas and the introduction of a random ballot to determine who receives them.
WHMs will still need to complete the required specified work — 88 days for a second visa and 179 days for a third — but will then enter a random ballot for a limited number of visas, with no guarantee of receiving one.
If your business employs Working Holiday Makers, we need your insights.
Please take a few minutes to complete the short survey and help us demonstrate the real-world impact these proposed changes could have on businesses, regional communities and Australian jobs.

What an amazing Melbourne Member Connect!

We kicked things off with a behind-the-scenes tour of ROLLER’s Melbourne HQ, before heading to Melbourne Showgrounds for an evening of connection, conversation and celebration.

The highlight was celebrating Dick Baird and presenting him with his AALARA Lifetime Achievement Award, recognising an extraordinary contribution to our industry and safety since 1978.

A huge thank you to everyone who travelled from near and far to join us, and to and for helping make the evening so special.
