One way we support Traditional Owners: clever investment in dividend-paying projects that sustainably fund our operations.

The Federation is an independent organisation with long-term, transformative goals – so it doesn't make sense for our work to be funded entirely by government, or on a piecemeal, projects basis.

Instead, we direct our subsidiary, Federation Enterprises – a for-profit company tasked with finding and investing in values-aligned work whose profits shore up the Federation's policy, advocacy and convening for Traditional Owner communities.

We're thrilled to today share the announcement that Federation Enterprises has acquired a five per cent stake in Australia's first Aboriginal-owned renewable energy retailer, Yurringa Energy, alongside Taungurung Land & Waters Council.

Yurringa is shows huge promise and is blazing a trail in an industry where First Nations communities are sorely under-represented. We couldn't be happier that our strategic investment both supports this business and drives our long-term impact for Traditional Owner communities.

Congratulations, Marcus!

Congratulations, Marcus!

There's a Victorian Traditional Owner helping mob manage Country, and he's a friend of the Federation – congratulations, Marcus Stewart!

We're thrilled to see our former CEO and Board Director, Marcus Stewart AM, appointed today to the Board of the Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation – the body helping Traditional Owner communities to acquire and manage land and water, to deliver enduring cultural, social, environmental and economic benefits.

Marcus is a proud Nira iIllim bulluk man from the Taungurung Nation (Taungurung Land & Waters Council!) and a whip-smart, staunch, and strategic leader. You'd know him as the former First Peoples' Assembly of Victoria co-chair and passionate advocate for Traditional Owners' cultures, voice, authority and rights.

Congratulations, Marcus – and congratulations, ILSC. ✊🏽

Today, May 26, is a recognised day to reflect and engage in truth-telling. Everyone can play a role in the healing process.

TLaWC honours the strength and resilience of The Stolen Generations not only today, but all days.
