The Blackstone-Ipswich Cambrian Choir was founded in 1886 and is now reputed to be Queensland's longest continuously-performing choir. and Coro Concorde.

The Blackstone-Ipswich Cambrian Choir was originally established as an adult SATB choir with the express purpose of competing in what was to become the Queensland Eisteddfod. Since these early days, the choir has developed into a more broad-based organisation. It has fostered the development of artistic and musical excellence among the young people of the Ipswich area through the establishement of additional choirs for young singers. The organisation currently incorporates five choirs: the original Senior Choir, the Cambrian Show Choir, the Cambrian Youth Choir, the Junior Cambrian Choir. The Blackstone-Ipswich Cambrian Choir has been assisted by the Ipswich City Council’s COVID-19 Ipswich Community Operational Support Funding Program. The funding received from this program was reinvested into local Ipswich businesses and suppliers.

First performed in 2021, the Cambrian Show Choir is bringing back THIS IS HALLOWEEN for a very special reprise, and the choir can’t wait to sink their teeth into this frightfully fun show once again! 👻🦇

Expect an entertaining mix of spooky songs, heavenly harmonies and Halloween favourites, all with the energy and theatrical flair of the Cambrian Show Choir.

The service celebrating of life of Jan Mundt will be at 2pm Tuesday, October 20, at the Church of the Vale (formerly known as Cityhope Church), Rex Hills Drive, Ripley.

Any current or past Cambrians are invited to sing at the service, performing Roger Emerson's arrangement of Fields of Gold and John Rutter's The Lord Bless You and Keep You, and we ask singers to arrive on the day of the service for 1:00pm to work out seating logistics, warm-up and sound-check.

Any Cambrians attending are asked to wear suitable civvies — no black, as per Jan's specific request — but please add at least a splash of blue and your Cambrian badge (if you have one).

Due to roadworks, if you are coming from Ipswich or off the Cunningham Highway, use the detour that takes you through the Caltex Service Station, past Domino's and McDonald's, then turn right onto Rex Hills Drive, before taking a left into the church's driveway.

The Senior Choir will very briefly rehearse both pieces at the beginning of rehearsal on Monday 19th October 7:30pm at the Cambrian Centre, for those wishing to have a run through beforehand.

If you are not a current member regularly attending either Senior Choir or Coro, can you please email [email protected] if you intend to attend, regardless of rehearsal attendance, so we can ensure we have a seat and music for you.

If you have any stories or anecdotes about Jan that you would like to share and possibly be included in her eulogy, can you please email them to Marellen ([email protected]) — we are especially looking for stories about her time as Youth Choir parent helper, when she was costume co-ordinator, as well as things she got up to on the Senior Choir's tour to Finland, Estonia & England in 2012.

It's that time again....

It is with a heavy heart that we acknowledge the passing of Life Member Jan Mundt.

Jan first came to the Cambrian’s when her daughter joined the Junior Choir. Jan was never one to sit back when there was work to be done, and took on roles in the parent sub committee with her main role being one of the uniform/costume ladies. She sang with the Senior Choir for over 20 years, performed with Show Choir, and most recently has been singing with Coro Concorde.

Over the years, Jan served on the Management Committee in many roles, including Membership Officer, Vice President, President and Assistant Treasurer. Jan was also the Costumes Hire Coordinator, and part of the Theatre Restaurant subcommittee for many years. In 2019, Jan was made a life member, recognising her extensive and numerous contributions to the Cambrian Family.

We will share funeral details when available. The choir will have some participation in the service.

Cambrian Side Quests | Focus on Me (Refocussed) with Paulina and Tom Thum

Following on from our collaborations in 2025 and earlier in 2026, our Senior Choir are so excited to be part of this incredible reimagining of Paulina and Tom’s song, “Focus on Me”. In June, the Senior Choir journeyed to Rainforest Gardens to spend the day recording and filming this project.
