🌿 June is the Perfect Time to Mulch Your Garden 🌿
As the cooler weather settles in, June is one of the best months to add mulch to your garden beds. A good layer of mulch acts like a warm blanket for your soil, helping to moderate temperature fluctuations and keep the ground a little warmer during those chilly winter nights.
Mulch also helps retain moisture, reduces w**d growth, and gradually improves soil health as it breaks down. By protecting the soil from cold winds and frost, it creates a better environment for plant roots to continue growing throughout winter.
Whether you use bark chips, sugar cane mulch, straw, or compost, applying a 5–10cm layer around your plants now can set your garden up for healthier growth and a vibrant spring season ahead.
Your garden may be slowing down for winter, but beneath the mulch, the soil is still hard at work! 🌱

🌿 What are the best plants to grow in the Blue Mountains ?🌿
Looking to create a beautiful, low-maintenance garden that thrives in the Blue Mountains climate? Our region is home to some incredible native plants that not only look stunning but also support local wildlife and biodiversity.

Some top choices include:
🌺 Waratah – A spectacular native flower and an iconic Australian favourite.
πŸ’œ Hardenbergia – A fast-growing climber with masses of purple blooms.
πŸ”₯ Grevillea – Long-flowering, drought-tolerant, and loved by birds.
🀍 Flannel Flower – Delicate, unique blooms that add elegance to any garden.
🌸 Boronia – Sweetly scented flowers perfect for smaller spaces.
🌱 Lomandra – Tough, versatile, and ideal for borders and landscaping.
🌿 Tree Fern (Dicksonia) – Creates a lush rainforest feel in shaded areas.

These plants are well suited to the cooler climate, rich soils, and varying conditions found throughout the Blue Mountains. Whether you're creating a native garden, attracting birds and pollinators, or simply looking for hardy plants that thrive locally, these species are excellent choices.
