Last night, Bittern Fire Brigade held a social dinner to celebrate the efforts of our members over the past year — and, most importantly, to give everyone a chance to put their boots aside, relax, enjoy some great food and spend time together. ❤️

A huge thank you to Balnarring Bowls Club for allowing us to hold our event at their wonderful venue.

And a special thank you to Gastronomcoyc, our favourite local chef and long time supporter of our Brigade, for catering the evening. The food was absolutely incredible! Let's hope all our turnout gear still fits us after that feast👌🍽️

Most importantly, thank you to all of our members for the time, commitment and dedication you give to our Brigade and our community 🙏🏻

It was a great night of good food, good company and plenty of laughs. 🚒❤️

Here we go cooking again for an absolute classic bunch of people and very important part of our forces, Our last cook up for the crew was awesome, i cant imagine this one to be any different. CANT WAIT!

Severe Weather Warning ⚠️

Heavy rain and winds are forecast across the peninsula and surrounding areas on Saturday afternoon and Sunday, now is the time to prepare.

Take the following steps to ensure you stay safe during the weather:

❗️Clear leaves and other obstructions from around drains
❗️Secure loose outdoor items before the weather arrives
❗️Clear gutters and down pipes to prevent water from entering your home
❗️Don’t park under trees, rain softens the ground and increases the risk of falling trees
❗️Never EVER drive through floodwater, it takes just 15cm of water to float most cars

If you find yourself in need of assistance, call 132 500 for storm related emergencies and 000 for Life-Threatening emergencies ☎️

The national test of AusAlert is happening on Monday 27 July 2026 at around 2pm AEST. 📅

AusAlert sends near-instant emergency messages to compatible mobile devices like mobile phones, tablets and smart watches. It uses vibration, sound and on-screen messages to get your attention.

If your device receives the national test, it will vibrate and make a loud siren-like sound for 10 seconds before stopping. As the national test is a Critical Alert, this happens even if your device is on ‘silent’ or ‘do not disturb’.

You may receive this test while driving, riding or using public transport. 🛻

If you are driving or riding, stay calm and don’t touch your device. ⚠️

The alert may also play through your vehicle’s speakers using Apple CarPlay, Android Auto or Bluetooth and may interrupt navigation or media like music or podcasts. 📱

🚨Mobile phone laws still apply – don't read or respond to the alert while operating a vehicle. Only check the message when your vehicle is turned off and it is safe and legal to do so.

🚌 If you receive an alert while on public transport, stay calm. Don't approach the driver about the alert.

This is just a test, and you do not need to do anything. You should always follow instructions or announcements from public transport staff.

At 2:00pm on Monday 27 July, a test of Australia's new AusAlert emergency warning system will be sent to ALL compatible mobile devices across the country.

📱 Your phone will vibrate, sound a loud alert, and display a message clearly marked TEST.

🚨 The Australian Government is launching AusAlert, a new national warning system that can send emergency messages to compatible mobile devices in times of disaster.

AusAlert will be ready to use from October 2026, but before it launches it will be tested across Australia.

A national test will be conducted on 27 July. You will receive a test emergency alert on your phone as part of the Federal Government’s new AusAlert national emergency warning system trial.

🔊 Expect a loud siren sound, vibration and pop-up alert, even if your phone is on silent. This is only a test and no action needed.
