Welfare over appearance: why nose and ear hair matters

Those nose and ear hairs aren’t just cosmetic - they’re there for a reason.

They help protect your horse from dust, insects and debris, acting as a natural defence system.

Pony Club Australia encourages members to leave them intact as part of good horse care.

It’s a simple shift, but one that puts welfare first.

Our members have been busy! Last weekend from one of our youngest riders through to one of our older riders and one in between, took in Mentone Dressage and Show Jumping day.
Naveah recently joined our club and she took on the grade 6 dressage, placing 5th & 6th!
Lexie also competed and had 2 beautiful grade 5 tests she was 7th and 8th including 4 scores of 10’s across the tests👌 With a pesky rail in both grade 5 jumping rounds she came home with 8th and 6th.
Sara was riding in the Open Grade 2 dressage and after a short time together with mare Elle was able to pull off a 3rd and a 2nd for an overall 3rd place!
Congratulations to you all 🙌👏⭐️🐴

It’s amazing watching our past riders take flight doing what they love!! We’re so proud of you Chelsea Thompson 💖🤩⭐️🐴

We love seeing our riders take on new things, long time member and eventing queen Amy has been quietly working away at a very different discipline altogether, and doing pretty good!! This weekend she competed at Tatura in Reining.
Riding her quarter horse Radar in the Hi Form GVRHA Water Wheel Reining Classic 2026 last week. There was over 200 competitors with over 900 runs for the week. Amy had a great show with the following results:
Green Reiner 7th, Beginner Round 1 10th, Beginner Round 2 3rd, NRHA Green Reiner Level 1 Co Champion,
NRHA Green Reiner Level 2 Co Res Champion, WWRC Beginner Super Challenge Final 5th place.
This is very cool! Congratulations Amy 👏🤩🐴
