A reminder that our Parents & Supporters Committee Meeting is coming up tonight!

This is YOUR chance to have a say in what's happening at Birkdale Scouts Group - from resources and events to finances and how we can best support your child's Scouting journey. Every voice matters and every bit of support makes a difference!

These meetings are held regularly on the 3rd Tuesday of each month, so save the date and make it a habit!

World Environment Day is this Friday 5 June - and it's a day close to our hearts here at Birkdale Scouts!

From camping under the stars to hiking through bush tracks, we spend a lot of time in nature - and that means we have a real responsibility to look after it.

Scouting has always been about connecting young people with the outdoors and building a respect for the world around us. Every time our youth members pick up a piece of rubbish on a trail, leave a campsite cleaner than they found it, or simply stop to appreciate the environment they're in - that's World Environment Day in action.

This Friday, we encourage every member of our Scouting family to do one small thing for the planet. Plant something. Pick something up. Spend some time outside and remember why it's worth protecting.

This Wednesday marks the beginning of National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June), and at Birkdale Scouts, we're proud to be All In.

National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

The theme for 2026 is All In - a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day. It reminds us that reconciliation isn't a spectator sport, and that it's not solely the responsibility of First Nations people. It takes all of us.

In Scouting, we believe in a world where every young person feels they belong - regardless of their background, culture or heritage. Reconciliation is part of living those values, not just this week, but every week.

The dates 27 May and 3 June commemorate two significant milestones - the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision. Two moments worth knowing, remembering, and reflecting on.

We hope yesterday was a beautiful one for those who celebrated Mother's Day.

Whether you spent it with your mum, a nan, an aunty, a family friend, or someone who has simply shown up for you - the people who nurture and guide us come in so many wonderful forms.

And if yesterday was a tough day for you, we see you too.

In Scouting, we talk a lot about belonging - about showing up for each other and building a community where everyone feels welcome. That's something we carry every single week.

Thank you to every person in our Scouting family who plays that role for a young person. You matter more than you know.
