See you at Bunnings Manly West on 31st May!

Meet the local Bayside Sea Scouts who are embarking on the incredible challenge of completing the 96km Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea. 🇵🇬🥾🌿

Senior school students Nick, Frankie, Oliver, Angus, John and Meila (who isn't pictured) are passionate group of venturers who have been training hard ahead of the multi-day trek in July. 💪🏃‍♂️

The group shared with me their drive and passion to walk in the same footsteps of our brave ANZAC soldiers and experience such an important piece of our history first hand. 💛🇦🇺

They are in great spirits and I know this will be the trip of a lifetime. Wishing them all the very best for the adventure ahead! 👏✨

To help fundraise for the journey, they will be hosting a BBQ at Bunnings Manly West on Sunday 31st May. 🌭🔥

Be sure to stop by, grab a snag and have a chat with the team about their exciting plans! 🙂

Bayside Sea Scouts comes together once a year to pay respect to those who serve or have served. We sleep over at our hall, the Landship, all sections - Cubs, Scouts and Venturers. Cubs bake ANZAC biccies to give out at the Darling Point NASHOs dawn service. Then we are proud to be part of the Manly Lota RSL Sub Branch ANZAC March and service, bearing flags in memory of the local lads who were lost during the Vietnam war.

Lest we forget.

Could you help a group of Bayside Sea Scouts Venturers hike the Kokoda Trail in PNG this July?

Imagine you are 16 or 17 years old. You've walked the Kokoda Foundation Gold Coast 96km walk, twice, with your mates. You've raised thousands of dollars for youth who need it. You've experienced what it means to work as a team to push through, walking for more than 30 hours without sleep through the night, only stopping for a bit of food and drink.

Then you decide to raise the funds needed to go to PNG to walk the real Kokoda Trail. You've secured a grant, raised well over $30,000 and are down to the last $4000. Imagine that.

Walk the real Kokoda trail. In PNG. Remember those who served there. Walk with and support your mates to relive their footsteps.

This July a patrol of Bayside Sea Scouts Venturers along with a Venturer from each of Algester and Rochedale Scouts will be walking the Kokoda Trail in PNG. They are looking for local supporters to help them raise their last $4000.

If you are a business or an individual, and are able to help our Venturers bridge their final funding gap please message us or our Venturer Scout Leader Brian McIntosh. We are looking for Gold ($500), Silver ($250) and Bronze ($100) sponsors. We'll recognise you on social media and on a board at the Bayside Sea Scouts Landship (our Hall).

Shape young lives by enabling them. Reward service and effort.

This weekend Scouts across the world gather to celebrate the birthday of the Founder of Scouting - Lord Baden Powell - 22nd February. Fort Lytton District Groups gathered today at Fort Lytton for this.

Here’s a photo of the closing parade, and of 3 of our leaders - Manta Ray (Cubs), Bunji (Scouts) and Haggis (Venturers).

We are always welcoming to new members looking to skill up for adventure and to leave the world a happier place than when you joined it (some famous words from Baden Powell).

We are so very, very proud of Max Herlaar - Lord Mayor’s Young Citizen of the Year. B-R-A-V-O!

Max was a Bayside Sea Scouts Scout and then Venturer Scout. She was awarded her Kings Scout Award (the highest award for Venturers) and has now moved on to become a member of Gateway Rover Scouts and Cub Scout Leader at Bayside. A flag bearer every year for many years for the Manly-Lota RSL ANZAC day march and Vietnam Veterans Memorial Day and a volunteer at the week long Scouts Queensland Agoonoree camp for youth with special needs for the past 6 or so years.

Outstanding service and dedication! Well done Max. And thank you Councillor Alex Givney for all the support and encouragement you have given.

Happy 2026 to everyone across the Bayside community and beyond from the crew at Bayside Sea Scouts!

A message from the Chief Commissioner of Scouts Australia about the tragic shootings at Bondi.

"Scouts Australia unequivocally rejects all acts of violence, hatred, and terror, which have no place in Australia, no place in our communities, and no place in the world we seek to build.

We also acknowledge the profound impact this event has had on the wider community. We express our sincere gratitude to the emergency responders, lifesavers, medical staff, and volunteers who acted with courage, professionalism, and compassion, as well as to the members of the public who stepped forward to help others in moments of fear and uncertainty. Their actions reflect the very best of community spirit and service.

At times like this, Scouting turns to its values. Our Promise and Law call us to be people of peace, compassion, and service, and to stand with those who are hurting. As messengers of peace, Scouts seek to respond not with fear or division, but with care, understanding, and a commitment to community.

Australia is strengthened by its diversity, built by generations of people from many cultures, backgrounds, and faiths. Our Jewish community is an important and valued part of that story, and today we stand with them in solidarity, compassion, and respect."
