Pictured here is (some of) Team Buttery from last week's Cultural Conference; Culture at the Heart of Healing.

The event served as a chance to reaffirm our commitment to deepening our cultural awareness, strengthening relationships and shared understanding, for and together with, our First Nations communities inside and outside the Buttery.

It took place, fittingly, just before 2026 National Reconciliation Week (May 27-June 3), which is why we're in a sea of green and pink. We recognise that reconciliation is not a single week of reflection, but an ongoing responsibility — one grounded in listening, learning, truth-telling, and meaningful action.

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a chance for all Australians to reflect on our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and learn how to individually contribute towards reconciliation in Australia.

This year's theme for (May 27 to June 3) is 'All In'. It's a call to action, an invitation for all Australians to take action towards reconciliation every single day of the year.

At The Buttery, we acknowledge and honour the strength, resilience, and enduring cultures of First Nations peoples. During National Reconciliation Week, we reaffirm our commitment to creating culturally safe, inclusive, and respectful spaces for our First Nations participants, colleagues, families, and communities.

Today, on National Sorry Day, we acknowledge the strength, resilience, and enduring cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We remember the Stolen Generations and the ongoing impact of past government policies on First Nations individuals, families, and communities.

At The Buttery, we are committed to listening, learning, and walking alongside First Nations peoples with respect, humility, and accountability. We recognise that reconciliation is an ongoing journey — one that calls for truth-telling, healing, and meaningful action.

We stand in solidarity with First Nations communities today and every day.

We're going rainbow today for IDAHOBIT! 🏳️‍🌈

May 17 marks the date in 1990 that homosexuality was removed from the WHO Classification of Diseases. Over three decades later, LGBTQIA+ communities still face discrimination...

🔹 2 in 3 LGBTQIA+ youth experience abuse due to their identity.
🔹 35% of LGBTQIA+ Australians have experienced verbal abuse in the past 12 months.

Today marks an important opportunity to help reduce the stigma and discrimination surrounding our rainbow communities near and far. You can learn more about the movement via www.idahobit.org.au
