When pets need more than the routine care we can provide at our monthly pop-up clinics, having the funding available to take that next step can make all the difference.

Thanks to the generous support of the Ingrained Foundation, our Pets In The Park Northern Rivers team has been able to extend the care we provide to pets belonging to people experiencing homelessness — including funding veterinary procedures, diagnostics and other essential care that we may otherwise have been unable to provide or had to delay while raising the necessary funds.

Their support has also helped us strengthen the skills of our volunteer team through Stress Free animal behaviour training, helping our volunteers better understand animal body language and use gentle handling techniques to make examinations more comfortable for our patients.

As a charity that relies on grants, donations and fundraising to provide services beyond our routine clinic care, partnerships like this have a very real impact.

A huge thank you to the Ingrained Foundation for supporting our Northern Rivers clinic, our volunteers and, most importantly, the people and pets we are here to help.

This week marks Homelessness Week 2026, a time to raise awareness of homelessness in Australia and the collective action needed to create lasting change.

At Pets In The Park, we see every day how important the bond between people and their companion animals can be.

Through our volunteer veterinary clinics, we're proud to provide free veterinary care that helps keep pets healthy and supports the people who love them.

It's practical support, delivered with compassion, and it's only possible because of our incredible volunteers, referral partners, supporters and donors.

Thank you for helping us make a difference...because caring for pets is also caring for people.

We're incredibly honoured to have been selected as the 2026 charity partner for the iconic Commentators Club Grand Final Luncheon.

What began in 1997 as a gathering of just 30 friends with a shared passion for Australian Rules football has grown into one of Melbourne's most anticipated AFL Grand Final week events. More importantly, it has become a remarkable force for good.

For almost three decades, the Commentators Club has chosen to direct the proceeds from its annual luncheon to grassroots charities making a real difference in the community, with over $400,000 distributed so far.

This year, we're humbled that Pets In The Park has been chosen as the beneficiary.

Funds raised will directly support our Melbourne clinics in St Kilda, Melbourne and Frankston, helping us provide free veterinary care to the pets of people experiencing homelessness.

A heartfelt thank you to Neville "Nifty" James, Geoff "Joffa" Donohue, the Commentators Club committee, and every guest attending and sponsor supporting this year's luncheon. Your generosity will have a lasting impact on the people and pets we support.

The luncheon is already sold out which is testament to the passion of everyone involved but you can join the wait list here: https://www.commentators.com.au/book

We feel incredibly privileged to be part of this year's event and can't wait to be part of what promises to be a fantastic afternoon. You can learn more about this incredible annual event here: https://www.commentators.com.au/

Hey everyone! Can you believe it's July already! Just wanted to let you know that Bay FM radio https://www.bayfm.org/ is airing an interview with Yasmin from the Backbone Team for the End Rough Sleeping Collaboration Byron Shire Council and our own Dr Elizabeth about the 1000 Voices Survey on Homelessness and our plans moving forward to end Rough Sleeping by 2034. Our local Pets in the Park leadership chose to be a part of this Collaboration so pets and owners are included in these plans. We hear from our clients that many choose living in tents, cars or vans because temporary housing does not let them bring their pets. You can listen today at 11am or later as it will be on their website.

For many Australians experiencing homelessness, a pet is their constant companion, source of comfort, and reason to keep going. Yet when money is tight, veterinary care is often out of reach.

That's why Pets In The Park provides free veterinary care to the pets of people experiencing homelessness via monthly pop-up clinics around the country.

This End of Financial Year, our friends at Scratch Pet Food are helping us make an even bigger impact. Through our Scratch for the Match campaign, every donation received before June 30 will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $40,000.

That means:
🐾 $50 becomes $100
🐾 $100 becomes $200
🐾 $500 becomes $1,000

Double the gift. Double the impact.

Donate today and help us reach more pets and the people who love them.

Another Pets in the Park clinic done and dusted today! We saw 15 pets - dogs and cats today with a variety of needs. We've also recently spayed a number of kittens and have a dentistry for one of our "ladies of a certain age"! We have also been able to provide food and treats to our clients as well as a generous toy donation from Petcare Byron Bay . The picture below is of some of our new volunteers from the Southern Cross University Veterinary Technician program. We will be at the Bangalow Furry Friends Day in a couple weeks - come by to see what we do, sign up to volunteer and maybe make a donation!😻🐱🐶

Great meeting with the End Rough Sleeping Collaboration Byron Shire this morning. Dr Elizabeth attended to represent Pets in the Park Northern Rivers. It was such a pleasure to work on creating focused work for our newly forming action groups. Everyone was respectful of each others views and we had a shared vision of what we need to focus on in the coming 12 months. If anyone is interested in joining any of the action teams, please reach out and I am happy to refer you to the right leaders. The action teams include: 1. Working to change things at a government level in NSW. 2. Safe, secure, affordable homes for all. 3. Person-centered Support & Services and 4. Creating greater awareness and understanding in the community to help drive change.
