A huge thank you to all of the emergency services personnel who helped make our Emergency Services Day such a memorable experience over the weekend as we celebrated First Responders Day.

During the morning, Guides worked on clauses of their Acheive a Challenge badges, made chocolate crackles and created colourful banners and messages of thanks for our local first responders.

In the afternoon, our visitors brought emergency services to life with a range of interactive displays and hands-on experiences. The biggest highlights were trying on fire fighting gear, throwing lifelines and getting all bandaged up!

Thank you to St John WA, Marine Rescue WA, Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA and Western Australia Police Force for sharing your time, knowledge and passion with our members. We would also like to thank WA State Emergency Service, who unfortunately were called away at the last minute. We appreciate your commitment to keeping our community safe. We'd also like to thank Wendy Rudge who attended as a guest author.

Thank you to all of our emergency services personnel for the vital work you do every day. We are grateful for the opportunity to learn more about your roles and to celebrate the incredible contribution you make to our communities. Fortem Australia

This special state event builds on the Youth Ambassadors for Seniors (YAS) program, where our older Girl Guide Units have been helping to break down stereotypes, challenge ageism and create stronger connections between young people and older generations.

Together, we’ll create a brave space to learn, reflect and celebrate. Expect a sea of purple, flowers and thoughtful activities that honour the seniors in our community. It’s a chance to show respect, share stories and stand up for kindness and inclusion across all ages.
