In 2026, the event marks 70 years of supporting, empowering, and celebrating young children across the state. The week highlights the value of play as a powerful tool for exploration, creativity, and foundational skill development.

SUNSET DRINKS - Friday 23rd May 2026
Active members Curry Night - was attended by 62 Active Members and partners. Also being National Volunteers Week, Supporters Association President Kelly Langworthy gave all volunteers a free drink voucher. The $5 Curry meal was a choice of Chicken, Sausage or Prawn with rice and chilli if required. The usual ice-cream with waffle cones or a tub with a selection of toppings.

President Kelly presented of a bouquet of flowers and champagne to Sheryl Traill who was retiring from both MRQ and the Social Committee, to concentrate on some niggling health issues. Sheryl joined VMR Bribie in 2011 and the Social Committee in 2012. Kelly commented “It will be sad to lose Sheryl as a worker, as I’m sure you will have all seen her in the kitchen at every event!” Sheryl will still attend functions where appropriate.

President Kelly then introduced the new members to the gathering. The usual raffles were then held.
