Have you heard about Rainbow Wave Festival THIS SATURDAY? The full lineup just dropped, and we can't wait to be part of it!

Join us THIS SATURDAY for the 5th Rainbow Wave Festival!

Rainbow Wave Festival is a youth-led Rural LGBTQIA+ Pride Event featuring live music, drag, workshops, service stalls, market stalls, a free clothing swap, SO MANY interactive activities and a whole lot of LOVE!

We are celebrating once again with our friends at Oaklands Event Centre.

The event will run from 11am-5pm on Saturday September 5th with doors opening at 10:30am.

Rainbow Wave is a strictly alcohol free, youth centred celebration (with something special for all ages), so, get your dress ups ready (did someone say runway?), throw some glitter on and grab your tickets via the QR code or at the door on arrival! You won't want to miss out on this ultra-cute family-friendly event!

Follow them on instagram at Rainbow Wave Festival for all the updates and for more info on what's happening throughout the day!

All funds raised at Rainbow Wave Festival, after covering expenses, will go towards future Rainbow Wave Festivals and will also keep our Rainbow Collective Youth Social Groups running for free each month at headspace Bega!

A note from our peer worker, Alex:
If finances are a barrier to attending, please reach out to us or Rainbow Wave to request a pay it forward ticket we've had some ticket costs covered by some very generous community members and they haven't all found homes yet! We don't want anyone to miss out! I know it's easy to believe sometimes that your struggles may not be 'difficult enough' to ask for help or that other people may be 'more deserving' of this support (believe me, I've been there!) but please know that this option is here for absolutely anyone who may need an extra helping hand, no shame or judgement, no questions asked.

Today is Wear it Purple Day, an opportunity to show our support for young LGBTQIA+SB people and stand against bullying, discrimination, exclusion, and isolation.

We’ve included some information from the Wear it Purple website to tell you more about the day and why it’s important, and in keeping on theme, we also offered some of our young people at headspace Bega the opportunity to share their thoughts on why Wear it Purple Day matters to them.

Wear it Purple is a great reminder for us of the work we do here at headspace to support young people experiencing tough times, and to provide opportunities to empower young leaders to find their voice and create change in our community. We’re wearing purple to show the pride we take in supporting, celebrating, and empowering young LGBTQIA+SB people today and EVERY DAY! 💜🏳️‍🌈🫶

This coming Friday the 28th is Wear It Purple day💜💜💜

You may or may not know what that means?

Wear It Purple was founded in 2010 after a series of tragic stories highlighted the devastating impact that bullying, discrimination and exclusion were having on LGBTQIA+ young people.

In response, young people and allies came together with one shared belief: every young person deserves to feel safe, supported and proud of who they are.

Wear It Purple began as a grassroots movement to show LGBTQIA+SB young people that there was hope, that they were not alone, and that there were people who would stand beside them 💜

If you and your workplace/school/etc are proud allies, this is your time to shine legends 💜

A new community‑led wellbeing framework, ‘Living Well in the Bega Valley’, is being designed collaboratively for our region. The Bega Valley Data Collective (BVDC) is inviting you to be a part of it! We’ve launched a short survey asking locals to share what really matters when it comes to Living Well. Your feedback can help create positive change, shape future programs and guide funding right here in the Bega Valley. Take the Living Well Survey anonymously and embrace the opportunity to help identify the areas that need urgent action, and build a healthier, happier, more resilient Bega Valley Community 😊
