What an inspirational morning, engaging with our youth who are already experiencing how to be a leader This morning, members of SI Beenleigh had the absolute pleasure of attending the Junior Chamber of Commerce Entrepreneurial Breakfast. It was an incredibly inspiring morning watching local students showcase their brilliant business ventures!
The talent, creativity, and drive on display were outstanding. We saw an amazing array of student-led businesses, including:
💐 Beautiful floral arrangements
🍪 Delicious homemade cookies
🌱 Eco-friendly recyclable seed cards
🧠 Heartfelt mental health inspiration cards
The breakfast gave these fantastic young entrepreneurs a real-world platform to pitch their ideas, showcase their hard work, sell their products, and take orders.
Investing in the skills, confidence, and economic potential of our youth is so vital, and these students are proof that the future is in very capable hands. Huge congratulations to all the participants—we can’t wait to see where your business journeys take you!

Single use plastic is not only grocery bags , we need to make a conscious decision to remove all plastic from our daily usage

next time you consider using a plastic bag, remember this image, it breaks my heart.

This isn't just a photo of a monkey in a tree; look more closely it is a direct impact of our "convenience culture." When we use single-use plastic bags for a 20-minute trip from the grocery store, they don't just disappear. They end up in our oceans, our forests, and in the hands of wildlife who don't know any better.
1️⃣ Less pollution: Fewer bags blowing into trees, rivers, and oceans.
2️⃣ Safer wildlife: Animals can return to their natural diets instead of foraging through our trash.
3️⃣ A circular economy: Utilizing recycled materials reduces the demand for raw plastics.

Attending the 2026 Pride of Workmanship: Vocational & Community Service Awards hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Beenleigh, Logan and Loganholme. This special evening celebrates individuals across the City of Logan who demonstrate excellence in their vocation, outstanding customer service, and a genuine commitment to strengthening our community. The awards also recognise the important contributions of our emergency services, apprentices, and trainees who embody Rotary's values of service above self.

Women Leading Greener Futures - Across the 13 countries in our SE Asia Pacific region, women and girls are on the frontlines of the climate crisis. Environmental degradation, water scarcity, and climate displacement are not gender-neutral, they hit our Pacific women the hardest, particularly in our Pacific communities where lives and livelihoods depend on the ocean.

Water Scarcity: Globally, women and girls spend an estimated 250 million hours every single day fetching water. In the Pacific, as rising seas contaminate freshwater, women must walk further and work harder to sustain their families, impacting on their future education and leadership.
Climate Displacement: Women and children are 14 times more likely to die or be injured during climate disasters. When extreme weather forces families into displacement, Pacific women face heightened safety risks, with some areas reporting a 300% increase in domestic violence cases following major cyclones.
The reality is clear: we cannot solve the climate crisis without addressing gender inequality.
When women are included in climate governance and water management, services become more equitable, communities become more resilient, and climate actions become more sustainable.
This Environment Month, let’s invest in our women, protect their rights, and amplify their voices. True climate action places women at the center of the solution.

Tonight we had the privilege of attending the twelfth annual Dîner en Rouge, a hallmark community event dedicated to the prevention of domestic and family violence.

This year's event holds special significance as the Redland Foundation continues its fundraising efforts towards a vital shared housing development, providing safe and stable accommodation for individuals and families escaping violence.

It was wonderful to share the evening with fellow Soroptimist International Beenleigh members Vicki and SI Logan Ces, and to join our friends from Soroptimist International Bayside. We are proud to support an event that brings together service clubs, community groups, businesses, and local leaders, all working towards a future free from domestic and family violence.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in organising this fabulous event and for the ongoing commitment to supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

Together, we can create safer communities, stronger support networks, and brighter futures for those affected by domestic and family violence. ❤️
