Congratulations to the Male Bag Foundation on another incredible ride! 🛵

Over the weekend, 20 bright red postie bikes travelled across western Victoria as part of the Male Bag Foundation's annual fundraising ride, raising more than $30,000 to support prostate cancer care.

For 13 years, the Foundation has been bringing communities together and raising vital funds for prostate cancer support, equipment and services in regional hospitals, helping improve access to care for men closer to home. Their efforts have now contributed more than $2 million towards prostate cancer initiatives across Victoria.

We're incredibly grateful for the Foundation's recent support of Grampians Health Ballarat, including funding towards a transperineal probe that will help enhance prostate cancer diagnosis for our community.

A special congratulations to all the riders, support crew and volunteers, including AFL legend David Parkin, whose commitment continues to make a real difference for men and families affected by prostate cancer.

And while we're celebrating this fantastic effort, it's also a timely reminder: if you're eligible, talk to your GP about a PSA blood test. Early detection saves lives.

A new bladder scanner is already making a difference for patients attending Urology clinics at Grampians Health Ballarat. 💙

Thanks to community donors, we have funded a dedicated bladder scanner for our Specialist Outpatient Clinics, giving clinicians immediate access to a vital diagnostic tool that helps assess urinary conditions quickly and non-invasively.

Previously, when a bladder scan was required, staff often needed to borrow equipment from an inpatient ward, which could lead to delays in appointments and treatment decisions. With a scanner now available in the clinic, our Urology team can provide faster, more efficient and patient-centred care.

More than 2,700 patients attend Urology outpatient appointments each year, meaning this equipment will have a significant impact on both patient experience and clinical care.

"The recent procurement of the bladder scanner through generous donations assists the Urology team to deliver a diagnostically informed, non-invasive assessment of urinary issues whilst reducing the need for unnecessary procedural intervention. This allows for an ongoing focus on patient-centred urological care through informed shared decision making. Greater clinic efficiency will also help facilitate an improved patient experience."

– Samantha Jones, Nurse Unit Manager, Specialist Clinics

Thanks to the generosity of a donor, a beautiful new electric fireplace has been installed in our Gandarra Palliative Care Unit, creating a warm, welcoming space for patients and their loved ones. 💜

The fireplace has transformed the unit's communal area into a cosy place where families can sit together, reflect and spend precious time with one another.

"In palliative care, creating a space that feels warm, homely and comforting can make such a meaningful difference to patients and their families. We are so grateful to have our fireplace back" - Lauren Dash, ANUM, Gandarra Palliative Care Unit
