🎣 Blue Lures Upper Ross – More Than Just Fishing! 🎣
The Blue Lures Upper Ross program is going from strength to strength! Running twice a week, the program is giving local young people the opportunity to get outdoors, learn new fishing skills and, most importantly, build positive relationships with police, mentors and each other.
These regular sessions are about so much more than catching fish. Blue Lures uses fishing to help build confidence, teamwork, trust and a sense of belonging, while providing young people with a safe and positive environment to connect. Blue Lures Facilitators Manual
And judging by these photos, there have been some pretty impressive catches along the way! 🎣👏
A huge thank you to Anaconda Storess for supporting Blue Lures with fishing equipment and Tweed Baited Bait for helping keep the hooks baited. Your support helps make days like these possible.
We also gratefully acknowledge the Kickstarter Youth Justice funding supporting the delivery of Blue Lures at Upper Ross and helping us provide ongoing opportunities for these young people.

🎣 Blue Lures Somerset – Cormorant Bay ☀️

What a beautiful morning for Blue Lures Somerset at Cormorant Bay on Saturday, 29 August!

With a sunny 23°C morning, the conditions were just about perfect. We had a few fish biting, but unfortunately none made it all the way to shore! 🎣😄

Fish or no fish, it was a fantastic morning outdoors and, most importantly, a great opportunity to welcome some new faces, have a chat and enjoy time together in the community.

A big thank you to Anaconda Stores and Tweed Bait for their continued support of Blue Lures and helping us get young people outdoors and involved. 💙

A special thank you to the dedicated Police Officers, Police Liaison Officers, and Teachers who go above and beyond to make this program a success. These young people couldn't do it without you.

This is the foundation to keeping skilled young workers in the region.

A great day out at Blue Lures Somerset on 20 June at Cormorant Bay. 🎣

While the fish weren’t biting this time, there was still plenty of fun, learning and connection. We welcomed some new friends, and for two of our participants it was their very first time fishing, which made the day even more special.

Blue Lures is about more than just catching fish. It is about getting young people outdoors, building confidence, learning new skills, creating positive connections and enjoying time with police, volunteers and community members in a relaxed and supportive environment.

A big thank you to everyone who came along and helped make the day such a positive experience.

A huge congratulations to the students from Sacred Heart Sandgate on finishing their Blue EDGE Program! 💙

Blue EDGE is designed to help young people build confidence, resilience, teamwork, leadership and positive decision-making, while also strengthening positive relationships with police and other community role models.

To celebrate the completion of the program, students enjoyed a fantastic Final EDGE day packed with fun, connection and well-earned rewards.

A very special thank you to Sgt Bob McDonald from the Queensland Police Service for his support of the program, and to Sandgate PCYC for helping support young people through this important opportunity.

Well done to all students involved — you should be very proud of your effort, growth and the way you represented your school throughout the program. 👏💙
