🌅 Good Morning from Cranky's Farm! 🐮🐷🐐🦆
Ever wondered what our mornings look like?
Every single day starts bright and early with the same familiar routine: opening night yards, checking on residents, handing out breakfast, topping up water, administering medications where needed, and making sure everyone is happy, healthy and ready to start their day.
From the moment we step outside, the residents know exactly what's coming. In fact, most of them are already waiting for us! 😄
Routine is incredibly important for farm animals. Just like people, animals feel more secure when they know what to expect. Consistent daily routines help reduce stress and anxiety, make it easier to identify when something isn't quite right, support healthy eating habits, and create a sense of safety and stability. For many of our residents, especially those who came from neglectful, abusive or uncertain situations, predictable routines are an important part of their ongoing rehabilitation and wellbeing.
Our morning routine takes around 1 to 1½ hours every day, followed by another full round of feeding, checks and bedtime duties in the afternoon and evening. Rain, hail, heatwaves, public holidays, birthdays, Christmas Day... the routine continues because the residents depend on us.
And honestly? We wouldn't have it any other way. 💚
These quiet morning moments—greeting sleepy faces, opening gates, and watching everyone eagerly head off for breakfast—are some of the best parts of sanctuary life.
Thank you to everyone who helps make these daily routines possible through your support, donations, sponsorships, shares and encouragement. Every meal served and every gate opened is only possible because of you.
