Ageing Australia Aged Care Employee Day is just around the corner (7 August) and now’s the time to recognise the people who make a difference every day!

Have you had a great experience with a Care Manager, Support Worker, or someone in the aged care industry? Why not nominate them for the Aged Care Employee Day Awards and help celebrate the impact they’ve made in your life or the life of someone you love.

These awards recognise the compassion, dedication and hard work of aged care professionals across Australia and your nomination can help shine a light on the people who truly go above and beyond.

🗓️ Nominations close 30 June, so don’t miss the chance to say thank you in a meaningful way.

Submit your nomination here:

We welcome the Australian Government’s recent announcement to prioritise aged care support for people living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

MND is a fast-moving and challenging condition. Getting the right care at the right time can make a real difference for people and their families.

This update means people with MND, including those already on a waitlist, will get faster access to support through the new Support at Home program. That’s an important step toward a more caring and responsive system.

At Care Connect, we see every day how much timely, well-coordinated care at home can improve quality of life. When support comes sooner, it helps people stay safe, comfortable and supported in their own homes.

We also support the Government’s commitment to keep reviewing how care is prioritised, so people with urgent and complex needs don’t miss out.

There is more to do, but this is a positive move in the right direction. And we’re here to help you understand what it means for you or your loved ones.

If you have questions about home care or your eligibility, our team is here to help.

This National Reconciliation Week, we take a moment to recognise and respect the history, cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year’s theme, “All In”, is about everyone playing a part, including how we care for and support each other.

For older people, feeling respected and understood is a big part of staying comfortable and confident at home. This includes care that recognises your culture, your background and what matters to you.

In everyday care, this can mean:

-being listened to and treated with respect
-feeling comfortable with the people who support you
-receiving care that reflects your values and way of life

These small things make a big difference to how care feels.

If you or someone you care about is looking for support at home, it’s important to choose a service that takes the time to understand you.

Call 1800 692 464 or visit careconnect.org.au to learn more.

Flu season is here, and it’s a good time to think about protecting yourself and the people around you.

Getting your flu shot is one simple way to help stay well and reduce the risk of serious illness, especially for older people and those with health conditions.

At Care Connect, we take this seriously. Our team members get their flu vaccinations too, so we can help keep our clients, families and communities safe.
If you’re over 65, or caring for someone who is, it’s worth having a conversation with your GP or pharmacist about getting your flu shot.
A few simple steps can make a big difference:

- Book your flu shot early
- Encourage family members and carers to do the same
- Keep up good habits like washing hands and staying home if unwell

Looking after your health helps you stay independent and continue doing the things you enjoy. If you need extra support at home, Care Connect is here to help.
