🌿✨ Mission Accomplished!
As our European Solidarity Corps camp has come to an end, we celebrate the incredible work of our volunteers in & 💪🌱

Together, they helped protect Austria’s ecosystems by removing invasive, non-native plants and preventing biodiversity-rich alpine meadows from becoming overgrown. 🏔️💚

Beyond the fieldwork, they also reflected on how colonialist approaches to nature have contributed to the spread of non-native species — and how we can prevent irreversible human impacts on these sensitive environments. 🌍✨

A heartfelt THANK YOU to every volunteer for their energy, commitment, and solidarity with nature. 💚💛 Let’s keep working for a future where biodiversity thrives!

Today is the final day of our “Nature, Not Nationalism: Protecting Alpine Forests Responsibly” Workcamp in Terfens (Tyrol), Austria. Together, our volunteers helped protect alpine ecosystems by removing non-native plants. They also critically examined the concept of “invasive species” and explored how ecological language has been misused for nationalist ideologies in the past. This workcamp was about more than just environmental work—it’s a call for decolonial, anti-racist, and ethnical approaches to nature conservation. 🌍✊Thank you to everyone who joined!

Call for Participants: ESC Green Belt Camp

Lower Austria: 5-20 September 2025

🌱 The dry grasslands of the so-called “Weinviertler Klippenzone” in the European Green Belt, located along the border between Austria and the Czech Republic, are the habitat of numerous rare plant and animal species. To maintain these habitats and prevent the invasion of bushes into the grasslands, it is necessary to establish regular management.

Biotope maintenance, like mowing or removing bushes or neophytes, will be implemented on rupicolous or steppic grasslands in protected areas, situated amidst a beautiful wine-growing landscape. This helps preserve rare species, such as the critically endangered Feather Grass (Stipa tirsa) and the Mountain Alcon Blue butterfly (Phengaris rebeli).

The workcamp is organised in collaboration with Naturschutzbund NÖ (Austrian League for Nature Conservation - Lower Austria). It will take place in the villages of Hart-Aschendorf (week 1) and Poysdorf (Week 2), in Lower Austria. All transportation is organised during the camp.

The main goals of this workcamp are the recovery of rural heritage, enhancing the biodiversity of our Center, and promoting the animal welfare of donkeys and their quality of life. We want to o enable the discovery of the Miranda Plateau, a unique rural region, rich in natural beauty, biodiversity, culture and traditions. With so aging population in these villages, one of the goals is bringing together the young participants and the local community, therefore promoting intercultural (urban/rural, international/national) and intergenerational (youngsters/ elderly) encounters and exchanges.

From .indonesia | The Semoya community continues to preserve Javanese culture as one of their daily activities. Many activities range from dance and performing arts, such as ‘ketoprak’ and ‘wayang’, which are often held for local communities and tourists. The local community started to become an eco-friendly village. They begin to reduce their dependence on manufactured chemical fertilizers for their agricultural land, which can potentially damage the environment.

Volunteer support for the mentoring program includes several activities, such as mentoring in organic agricultural production facilities, sustainable cultivation techniques, and implementing permaculture principles. Such as: Producing Organic Fertilizer in Livestock Areas, Creating a Permaculture Garden in Semoya Village, Participating in local community activities, Organizing a farming workshop about permaculture principles implementation, Supporting community and cultural arts activities

On August 17th, 2025, we will celebrate Indonesia Independence Day. We will host a small farmer event and competitions. With all the community farm surroundings.
