Today is International Equal Pay Day. ⚖️

As a volunteer organisation, we believe equality starts with what we do in our workplaces, our communities and our everyday lives.

Greenbelt Camp 🌿🪏

Along the border between Austria and the Czech Republic, the dry grasslands of the Greenbelt zone are home to a remarkable diversity of rare plants and animals.

Without regular management, bushes and trees gradually take over the grasslands, threatening the species that depend on these open landscapes.

At the Green Belt Camp, international volunteers come together to protect and restore this unique landscape. Our volunteers are getting their hands dirty and are learning more about the nature around us.

We are happy that our training Youth Development for emotional awareness started.
On the first day of our journey the participants got to know each other and learnt more about the SCI movement. They exchanged different perspectives about emotional intelligence from around the world. Looking forward to the next days!

Last Friday, SCI Austria joined the Austrian delegation in Brussels for the kick-off of the European Youth Week at the European Parliament.

Under this year’s theme “Solidarity & Fairness”, we connected with over 800 young people from across Europe — exchanging perspectives, reflecting on shared challenges, and discussing what solidarity means in practice today.

For us, it was especially inspiring to see how diverse voices come together to shape conversations on youth participation, inclusion, and social justice.

We’re taking these insights and connections back with us — into our projects, our work with volunteers, and our ongoing commitment to peace and solidarity 💫

On November 22nd, former volunteers of SCI volunteer camps joined us for our Returnee Seminar! It was a pleasure to hear about their experiences and what important lessons they learned while volunteering!

🌿✨ Mission Accomplished!
As our European Solidarity Corps camp has come to an end, we celebrate the incredible work of our volunteers in & 💪🌱

Together, they helped protect Austria’s ecosystems by removing invasive, non-native plants and preventing biodiversity-rich alpine meadows from becoming overgrown. 🏔️💚

Beyond the fieldwork, they also reflected on how colonialist approaches to nature have contributed to the spread of non-native species — and how we can prevent irreversible human impacts on these sensitive environments. 🌍✨

A heartfelt THANK YOU to every volunteer for their energy, commitment, and solidarity with nature. 💚💛 Let’s keep working for a future where biodiversity thrives!
