🇦🇷 Towards Sustainable Transition of Argentina's fisheries sector 🐟
🔺 Over 75% of Argentina’s fishing vessels still use Hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC-22) a gas that is used as a refrigerant in air conditioning/cooling systems. Owing to its ozone depleting potential and being a potent greenhouse gas, it must be phased out before 2030 under the Montreal Protocol.
🌐 The article by Revista Puerto explores the challenges and opportunities of this transition to the fishing sector, as well as the technical assistance, , and financing initiatives that the National Ozone Unit (Oficina Programa Ozono) is promoting supported by UNIDO - United Nations Industrial Development Organization, to facilitate the adoption of sustainable alternatives. UNIDO is committed to promoting sustainable economic growth while reducing harmful emissions.
