Why accessible air travel is personal to our Founder and President, Michele Erwin.

“I founded All Wheels Up in 2011 after traveling with my son, Greyson, who has SMA, and experiencing firsthand the barriers of flying with a wheelchair. What began as a mother determined to find a safer, more dignified way for her son to fly grew into a mission to create change for millions of travelers with disabilities.

For far too many people, air travel still means damaged wheelchairs, inaccessible seating, communication barriers, and sacrificing independence and dignity just to fly.

That’s why National Accessible Air Travel Day is so important to me. It’s an opportunity to raise our voices, share our experiences, and show why accessible air travel matters.

Today, I encourage you to join us by sharing why accessible air travel is important to you. Every story and every voice helps move us closer to a future where everyone can fly safely, independently, and with dignity.”

Happy Accessibility Fact Friday!

Did you know airlines are required to have a Complaint Resolution Official (CRO) available to help with disability-related concerns?

A CRO is specially trained in disability-related air travel requirements and can help if you experience an issue with assistance, accommodations, boarding, or another accessibility barrier while flying.

If you experience a disability-related issue, ask to speak with the airline’s CRO. Knowing who to ask for can make a difference when advocating for your rights while traveling.

Progress in accessible air travel comes from innovation, and we’re excited to highlight technology that has the potential to make a difference.

Access-IQ Aero is developing an app that allows travelers to navigate their flight experience right from their phone using accessibility features that many people with low vision or hearing impairments already use. The team recently showcased the platform at Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX), and we’re excited to see where this technology goes next.

While the app is still in development, innovations like this are an important step toward creating a more accessible and inclusive future for air travel.

Today, we celebrate the 36th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a landmark civil rights law that protects the rights of people with disabilities and has helped make our country more accessible and inclusive.

At All Wheels Up, we are proud to be based in a country with legislation like the ADA. While we’ve made incredible progress, there is still important work to do, especially in creating truly accessible air travel.

Today, we celebrate how far we’ve come and remain committed to a future where everyone can travel with dignity, safety, and independence.

Happy 36th Anniversary, ADA! 💙

This is exactly why we continue to advocate for a more accessible future. Every traveler deserves to board a plane with dignity, safety, and independence. This video is a powerful reminder that air travel can still present unnecessary barriers for people with disabilities, and why our work is far from over.

We won’t stop pushing for change until air travel is accessible for everyone!

Happy Accessibility Fact Friday!

Did you know you always have the right to ask for a Complaint Resolution Official (CRO) if you experience a disability-related issue while flying?

A CRO is an airline employee specially trained to handle disability-related concerns. If you don’t receive the assistance you requested, are denied preboarding, or experience another accessibility barrier, you can request to speak with a CRO for help resolving the issue.

Knowing your rights is an important step toward more accessible air travel!
