Desert Flower Foundation

Wegbeschreibung Website

Desert Flower Foundation The Desert Flower Foundation is an international organization against Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM) Every 11 seconds, a girl in the world is cut.

Every third girl cut dies as a result of FGM and many suffer a lifetime of both physical and psychological trauma. With the establishment of the Desert Flower Foundation in 2002, we have declared war on this cruel ritual !!

Vielen Dank!

Some journeys stay with you. ❤️

Our journey to Djibouti with soul-pop star and Grammy Award winner Joss Stone was one of them.

Joss wanted to do more than simply learn about our work of the Desert Flower Foundation. She wanted to experience it first-hand: meeting people, listening, asking questions and understanding what it means to work on the ground.

A big thank you, Joss, for your incredible support and for standing with us! 🙏🏼💕
Manche Reisen bleiben für immer im Herzen. ❤️

❗️No girl should have to suffer to become a woman. That is what we are committed to. Fortunately, our four Desert Flower sponsored girls Isha, Halimatu, Ramatu and Fatmata from Sierra Leone know exactly what that means, because they have control over their own bodies.

Vielen Dank! Folge dem Link https://www.desertflowerfoundation.org/de/donations/patenschaft-abschliessen

"I am very proud to be a Desert Flower", says nine-year-old Mansaray from Sierra Leone, West Africa.

Two years ago, she was on the verge of undergoing female ge***al mutilation (FGM), a practice that is widespread in her home country. Our staff on the ground heard about this and suggested to her family that Mansaray be included in our sponsorship programme Save a Little Desert Flower. In return for the financial support, the family has contractually undertaken not to subject Mansaray to FGM or to force her into child marriage.

❓FGM is a brutal practice in which parts of the female ge***alia are removed for non-medical reasons. In many communities, this cruel procedure is practised as a rite of passage from girlhood to womanhood. In most countries, FGM is prohibited by law; it is a serious human rights violation – yet it is estimated that over 8,000 (!) girls undergo ge***al mutilation every day.

Back to nine-year-old Mansaray from Sierra Leone. She represents all the girls we have saved from FGM since the project was founded in 2014. As an ambassador, she proudly spreads the good news. With every additional girl we rescue, we grow stronger. Please help us protect even more girls like Mansaray and become a Desert Flower sponsor now. What are 10 euros worth to you? For a girl in Africa, they could mean a schoolbook, pens, a future through education. And above all: a future free from female ge***al mutilation (FGM).
Because our Desert Flower education kits containing school supplies aren't available everywhere. We only distribute them in communities that have made a clear commitment to end the FGM practice.

And you can help too:
€10 = 1 education kit
€50 = 5 education kits
€400 = a school class
€4,000 = an entire school

Erfahre was deine Unterstützung bewirken kann ....

Vielen Dank! ❤️
