At this year’s UN General Assembly, UNIDO engaged with world leaders, Member States and international partners on how industrialization can strengthen productive capacity, economic security and job creation in a rapidly changing global landscape.

UNIDO Director General Gerd Müller also launched “The Future of Industrialization: Rethinking Economic Development”, bringing together global voices on sustainable economic transformation.

Key discussions focused on two critical priorities: 🤖 responsible AI and 🌱 green industrialization, highlighting the importance of innovation, sustainability and multilateral cooperation.

🌏 Advancing partnerships for green and digital industrial transformation.

UNIDO and Nanjing University (NJU) are advancing their cooperation through the signing of a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), affirming their readiness to support inclusive and sustainable industrial development.

🤝 The partnership will draw on NJU’s expertise to promote knowledge sharing, capacity building, innovations and talent training, with cooperation spanning areas including sustainable agriculture and food systems, digitalization and the digital economy, urban-industrial symbiosis, climate action and environmental conservation, SME competitiveness and AI governance.

Through joint projects, applied research, policy dialogues, training and talent exchange programmes, UNIDO and NJU will work together to support green and digital industrial transformation in the Global South towards sustainability and inclusiveness.

is supporting ’s water utilities by strengthening technical capacity, sharing European experience and building partnerships for practical modernization.

At the Truskavets conference, utilities, municipalities, national authorities, development partners and private-sector experts discussed key priorities: energy efficiency, digitalization and smart metering, water-loss reduction, wastewater treatment, workforce development and critical infrastructure preparedness.

The conference concluded a broader UNIDO–Ukrvodokanalekologiya capacity-building initiative, which included four technical webinars reaching 340 registered participants from water utilities across Ukraine, as well as a study visit to Germany to exchange experience on modern, energy-efficient water management.
