Fathers are joining the Parenting for Peace movement in Frankfurt and Marburg!

After 5 years of implementing MotherSchools in Hessen, Women without Borders is proud to launch FatherSchools here for the first time, in partnership with Rumi imPuls e.V.

Our core philosophy? Peace at home is everyone's responsibility. We believe that raising peaceful, resilient children is not a mother's responsibility alone. Fathers are equally powerful role models!

We kicked things off with a Training of the Teachers workshop, preparing FatherSchools trainers to bring the programme to their own communities. Roll-out begins in a few weeks!

The FatherSchools in Hessen are funded through the programme "Hessen - aktiv für Demokratie und gegen Extremismus” (Hessen.de).

On the heels of the 70th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, and at a moment when democratic and legal protections for women and girls are under pressure worldwide, Women without Borders continues its work where it matters most: in communities.

One in three women globally will experience domestic violence in her lifetime. Our GBV prevention programme 'Women Know How: Ending Gender-Based Violence' empowers women to break the taboo surrounding violence, question the silence, and challenge the social stigma that allows it to persist.

We recently held a training session ahead of our upcoming roll-out with our Vienna partners, Nachbarinnen, equipping Women Know How Trainers with the tools to lead workshops and carry out the WKH curriculum.

This project is made possible through the generous support of the Sozialministerium Österreich.

Open House Talks | Consequences of Patriarchy: On the occasion of , Women without Borders hosted two pioneering women’s rights activists, Ambassador Manizha Bakhtari and Dr. Jaleh Lackner-Gohari (Das Iranische Wien), for a conversation on the alarming status of women and girls in Afghanistan, Iran, and beyond.

The evening began with a stark reminder and warning: when authoritarian regimes rise, the consequences of patriarchy follow: the roll-back and dismantling of equality and of hard-won human and women’s rights.

Yet, as our speakers emphasised, now is not the time to despair. This is the time to act, to disrupt, and to reclaim the space every person rightfully deserves. Because every day is a day to celebrate women and all that has been achieved — and to continue the work that still lies ahead.

New year, new roll-out 🚀

At the end of January, we trained 23 Teachers and Notetakers for the upcoming MotherSchools and FatherSchools in Kempten and Munich. Family-based prevention has been at the heart of our work in Bavaria since 2017, and we remain committed to advancing peace where it matters most: in families and local communities.

Thank you to our partners at Sozialdienst muslimischer Frauen Kempten e.V. and to our sponsors, the Bayerisches Sozialministerium.

🎓 Hats off to the MotherSchools Kosovo 2025 graduates! Another cohort of peacebuilders joins the ever-growing global community of MotherSchools role models, ready to take the lead in their communities and safeguard their families with strength and compassion. Over ten weeks of sessions, the mothers came together to share their concerns, gain knowledge on positive communication and parenting, and elevate their self-confidence and courage. We are so proud of the journey you have all undertaken and can’t wait to see where you go next! 👏

Warmest thanks go to our incredible partners, Jahjaga Foundation, for their unwavering dedication to the programme. Thank you as well to the L’Oréal Fund for Women for their continuous support of MotherSchools Kosovo.

India: Parenting for Peace in Kerala 2025

🎥 On the occasion of International Human Rights Day and the end of this year’s 16 Days of Activism campaign against gender-based violence, we are proud to present the MotherSchools India 2025 film produced by our local partner, Fourth Wave Foundation . The film follows graduates and their families as they highlight their learnings and changes in their relationships, giving insights into our latest iteration of MotherSchools India.

“For many mothers who has a lot of wounds in their hearts like me, [MotherSchools] is a great example. Through the sessions, we can recognise our mistakes and right actions, correct them, share our wounds with others, and listen to them.” - MotherSchools India participant
____
Over the past 5 years, MotherSchools India has inspired 500 mothers across Kerala, who have joined the global Parenting for Peace movement now 7,000 strong. The weekly sessions provided a safe space in which Participants could strengthen their individual capacity, capability, and emotional competence, while raising their awareness about violent ideologies. MotherSchools India is part of a multi-country project funded by the L'Oréal Fund for Women.

Over 100 inspiring mothers came together week after week across Kerala, committed to Parenting for Peace through positive communication, leadership, and by breaking the silence around taboo topics. Representing the fifth cohort of MotherSchools India, this year’s groups have shown courage, growth, and self-discovery. They’ve gained the tools to safeguard their families, protect their communities, and lead with strength and compassion. We are so proud to welcome these newest peacebuilders into the MotherSchools India community! 💪

A special thanks to our outstanding partners in India, Project VENDA, and to the L’Oréal Fund for Women for their continuous support.

100 incredible role models have graduated from the MotherSchools Zanzibar programme, joining a global network of over 6,000 graduates who share one powerful language — the language of Parenting for Peace.

Together, they’re strengthening confidence, resilience, and the ability to safeguard their families and communities from violence and harmful ideologies.

Our heartfelt thanks to our longstanding partners ZAYEDESA and to the L’Oréal Fund for Women (L'Oréal Groupe) for making this journey possible.

FatherSchools Zanzibar, Round 2! Building on the success of our first cohort, we’re back with even more fathers stepping up for peace, equality, and positive parenting. Together with our local partner ZAYEDESA, we continue breaking cycles of violence through our MotherSchools and FatherSchools movements — one family at a time.
