Youth Voices, National Impact! 🇿🇼✊

YDIT is honoured to be taking part in the ongoing YCA4SOTRA (Youth Collective Action for Social Transformation Alliance) National Youth Indaba currently underway in Harare. Our organisation is represented by Programmes Officer Mukudzei Juliet Mutera and Monitoring & Evaluation Officer Paida Alice Makotore.

The Indaba has drawn together the Zimbabwe Youth Council, development partners, dozens of youth-led civil society organisations, and duty bearers from across all ten provinces for a week of dialogue focused on deepening youth influence in national governance and decision-making spaces.

For YDIT, this convening speaks directly to why our work exists young people deserve a seat at the table where policies are shaped and futures are decided, not as an afterthought, but as rightful architects of change.

We look forward to carrying the outcomes of this Indaba into our own programmes, as we continue building platforms where young people actively shape governance and development priorities in their communities.

Silence has never protected young people. Information does. 💛

For generations, s*xual health conversations have centered on fear what to avoid, what to fear, what not to do. Rarely on consent, communication, or understanding your own body.

YDIT is advocating for a different approach: comprehensive, rights-based SRHR education that equips youth with knowledge, not just warnings.

Because empowered youth make informed choices. 🌱

You can't make an informed choice with incomplete information. 💛

For too long, SRHR education has left out the essentials consent, communication, bodily autonomy, pleasure in favor of fear alone.

YDIT is advocating for change: education that equips youth with the full picture, not just a list of warnings.

Because knowledge isn't just protection. It's power. 🌱

She used to think s*x education was just a list of warnings. 🚫

Then she learned that it’s also about consent, communication, and understanding her own body without shame.

That's the education every young person deserves. 💛

At YDIT, we're changing the narrative from fear-based to pleasure-informed, rights-based SRHR education for youth.

We recently concluded our six-monthly Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) review for the Building Joyful Futures initiative. The results from January to June 2026 are a testament to the power of pleasure-centric SRHR education grounded in our core values of Rudo (Love), Hunhu (Dignity), and Hutano (Health).

Key Highlights from Period 1:
🌟 100%of project milestones met.
📈 66.8%overall increase in interest and comfort regarding SRH discussions.
🤝 11 CSOs in Manicaland now equipped to integrate PBSE into their programming.
🔥 Significant gains in knowledge and self-efficacy among our peer educators.

As we move into the next phase, we remain committed to evidence-based advocacy and youth-led transformation. A huge thank you to our partners at and all our stakeholders for making this progress possible!

At the Show & Tell session in Samarkand Uzbekistan, our Programs Officer presented YDIT’s previous sustainable fish farming project in Mutare Rural District (Arda Transau) funded by Small Grants Program, UNDP, GEF. The initiative empowered 50 women through climate‑smart livelihoods and introduced a free‑ware mobile application, “Hove Dzedu” which provided real‑time tracking, 24‑hour assistance, and monitoring tools for tilapia farming. This innovation showcased how youth‑led CSOs can combine community empowerment and digital solutions to drive transformational change and advance shared global environmental goals.
