Our Story

ZENWE Trust was formed in 2015 with the objective of creating a working relationship between humans and nature in which they both benefit and thrive. Conflicts between humans and nature are on the rise and remain a huge problem to the survival of both. We believe these can be reduced if a holistic approach is adopted. ZENWE Trust tries to bridge the gap between the two by supporting various communities with their needs then introduce awareness campaigns about the importance of environment, nature &wildlife. We believe human welfare and wildlife welfare cannot be separated if permanent solutions are to be found.

We are so far running an Orphan Relief Programme for those living in dire poverty. We have so far managed to send 15 orphans to school and support them with food and clothes. We anticipate an increase in this number as we venture into various income generating projects meant specifically to support the orphans in partnership with those who were left to take care of them after the death of their parents. To find out more about this programme please join the “ZENWE Orphan Relief Programme” Facebook group And checkout the link https://www.zenwetrust.org/zenwe-orphan-relief-programme

We also do Snake Awareness Campaigns throughout the country. Snakes have become a huge problem in our country because of two main reasons - 1) the poor means of refuse disposal all over the country which is causing an increase in rodents. Rodents are food to venomous snakes such as Snouted cobra, Mozambique spitting cobra, Forest cobra, Black mamba, Puff adders etc. therefore these deadly snakes are moving into residential areas to feed on them. The extreme fear humans have towards snakes result in them acting in ways that endanger their lives. Which brings us to - 2) the unavailability of antivenom in hospitals and how expensive the little that is available is. This has resulted in deaths from bites of snakes like puff adders which normally should not be fatal. The awareness campaigns are therefore there to allow us to discuss with people on safer ways to react when they encounter snakes, steps to take to reduce chances of venomous snakes living in residential areas, schools and workplaces. As well as showing people the different snakes found in Zimbabwe and ways of identifying them among other issues. To find out more you can also join the facebook group “ZENWE Snake Awareness Programme”. You can ask any question there and you’re sure to get a respond.
