This week, Misheck, Margaret, and Tashinga attended the Project Inception Meeting in Harare for the SHIELD programme, a new initiative designed to strengthen protection, health, and support systems for vulnerable communities. The project is being implemented as a consortium partnership between the R**e Clinic (ARC), Family Support Trust (FST), and Hope for Kids Zimbabwe (HfKZ).

During the meeting, the 3partners formally confirmed their roles, reporting lines, and communication channels as outlined in the signed sub‑granting agreement-sharing more insights about each organization, getting to know each other more. The session emphasized collaborative implementation, accountability, and safeguarding measures. Family Support Trust (FST) plays the central role in anchoring the consortium, ensuring compliance, financial oversight, and transparent reporting. Each partner contributes complementary expertise: the Adult R**e Clinic (ARC) provides clinical and psychosocial support for survivors and Hope for Kids Zimbabwe (HfKZ) community‑based interventions and youth engagement. Together, the consortium combines institutional strength, survivor‑focused care, and grassroots mobilization to deliver the SHIELD programme effectively.. Yesterday we gathered at Cresta Jameson for the Care to Share project review meeting hosted by Young Africa for its partners running the Care to Share Project. Care to Share trains disadvantaged youth with vocational skills, life skills, and business support so they can get jobs and become self-reliant, Hope for Kids Zimbabwe and Simukai CPP runs this project in Manicaland

It was a full day of learning, collaboration, and reflection with project updates of 8 different partners including Hope for Kids, engaging group discussions on successes, lessons, and challenges, the energy in the room was incredible. Highlights included Insightful address from the Ministry of Youth represented by the Deputy Director Mrs Takavarasha on
strengthening partnerships in Youth Empowerment and improved partnerships with Gvt. There were practical report writing session led by the Grants Manager. A dynamic panel discussion with Master crafts on maximising industry impact. Updates on finance and future project improvements were also presented. We closed with heartfelt remarks, carrying forward renewed commitment to empowering communities and amplifying impact.

📢 Training Update | Hope for Kids Zimbabwe.
We are excited to share that 3 of our Hope for Kids Zimbabwe staff members are currently attending the week-long Life Skills Training of Trainers (ToT) Program facilitated by Young Africa International.

As part of our SRHR team leading the Ending Child Marriage campaigns in Marange, this training is equipping them with fresh tools to better serve our adolescents and young people.

We believe that when our facilitators grow, our communities grow too. 💪
This training will directly strengthen the work we are doing on the ground to empower girls, prevent child marriage, and promote SRHR education in Marange and beyond.

A big thank you to Young Africa International for this opportunity and to our team for representing Hope for Kids with dedication.

🌍 WEEK's WASH UPDATE | Mutare Rural :Ward 34: Village J1 & J2

Hope for Kids Zimbabwe, together with AFRICA AHEAD Director Mr. R. Matimati, Mutare Rural District Council Mrs. Musiyamhuru, Rural Infrastructure Development Agency, Ministry of Health and Child Care Mr. Magomore, and representatives from the President’s Office, made monitoring and support visits to assess WASH interventions and behavior change in the community running the CHC program. 💧

The team met with facilitator Mrs. Chadoka and Mr. Tivatye (EHT) in J1 and visited 14 households and saw incredible progress:
✅ Clean yards, standard toilets, handwashing stations, waste pits, and pot racks in place
✅ Club members running home gardens and a club garden as a source of income
✅ ISAL groups helping members buy bags of cement each to build toilets
✅ Membership growing from 35 to almost the whole village! 58 members graduated and 23 new members joined

The community is owning the CHC model. Hygiene is no longer a program — it’s a lifestyle.

A visit to Village J2's Pepukai Club was equally imprrssive, facilitator Mrs. Gwarada explained how aspiring members inspired by the club’s example are lining up to join the clubs. It was noted that there is;
✅ Strong commitment despite challenges — 15 graduated initally, and 25 new members have joined
✅ A club member’s husband donated land for a garden to support their ISAL group
✅ Church leadership from the Johan Marange sect is now collaborating with the Ministry of Health to spread health and hygiene practices
✅ Monthly clean-up campaigns every first Friday + Agritex training support engaged

This is what transformation looks like faith leaders, government, and communities working together. 🙌

Today, Hope for Kids conducted monitoring and evaluation support visits to St Noah Primary School, Nzvenga Primary School, Matanda Primary School, and Chinyauhwera Secondary School under the Schools Entrepreneurship Program. The visits revealed positive progress in school-based entrepreneurship projects, with St Noah Primary successfully managing a goat rearing project, Nzvenga Primary producing and selling eggs through its layers project, and Chinyauhwera Secondary maintaining 30 pigs through its piggery enterprise. Although Matanda Primary's broiler project is currently on hold, the club is planning to venture into egg production. These projects continue to provide learners with practical business skills, promote teamwork, and contribute to the sustainability of entrepreneurship clubs in schools.

Hope for Kids conducted a support visit to Chitakatira Secondary School under the Education Programme. During the visit, the team met with four beneficiary students to monitor their academic progress, assess their well-being, and provide psychosocial support. Discussions were held with the learners to understand any challenges affecting their education and to encourage them to remain focused on their studies. The visit also served as an opportunity to strengthen relationships with the beneficiaries and ensure that the support being provided continues to contribute positively to their educational development.

Hope for Kids, under the Care to Share Programme, recently conducted an endline survey with youths who graduated from motor mechanics and Hairdressing training. Through interviews and group discussions, beneficiaries shared their experiences, achievements, and challenges after completing the programme. Many reported improved skills, increased confidence, better income opportunities, and enhanced employability. The survey highlighted the positive impact of the Job Incubation initiative in empowering young people with practical skills and supporting their journey towards self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.
