🕊️ IN LOVING MEMORY OF TANAKA GATSI 🕊️
Sometimes, words are simply not enough to express the pain of losing a young life too soon. 💔
It is with profound sadness, broken hearts and deep sorrow that Albinism Dare to Dream Initiative announces the passing of our beloved young brother, Tanaka Gatsi, who sadly left us on 27 September 2026, at the tender age of just 19 years old.
Tanaka was far too young to leave us. 💔
For a long time, Tanaka fought a courageous battle against cancer. In 2025, he underwent an operstion called (exenteration) the removal of his right eye. Sadly, the cancer later metastasized to other parts of his body.
Even through unimaginable pain, hospital admissions, treatments and countless difficult days, Tanaka kept fighting. He spent much of his final months going in and out of hospital, holding on and bravely facing a battle that no young person should ever have to face.
His journey was heartbreaking, but his courage will never be forgotten. 🕊️
Tanaka was not just a young man living with albinism. He was our brother, our son, our friend and a cherished member of our community. His life mattered. His struggles mattered. His dreams mattered.
Today, our hearts are heavy because a young life full of possibilities has come to an end. 😢🤍
We would like to express our deepest and most sincere gratitude to every person who stood with Tanaka and his family during his battle. To everyone who helped with chemotherapy medication, hospital expenses, food and other necessities thank you.
Your kindness gave Tanaka and his family hope during some of their darkest moments. Every contribution, every prayer, every visit, every message and every act of kindness meant something.
As the albinism community, we will never forget your support. 🙏🏽🤍
Now, as we prepare to say our final goodbye to Tanaka, his family is once again facing an incredibly painful and difficult situation.
His mother is struggling to raise money for a coffin and basic food supplies for the funeral. At a time when a mother should be grieving the loss of her son, she is also having to worry about how she will give him a dignified farewell. 💔
🙏🏽 We are therefore humbly appealing to everyone with a compassionate heart to please stand with Tanaka’s family once again.
