YMCA Bulawayo Promotes Environmental Action!!
The YMCA Bulawayo convened a stakeholder training meeting bringing together reps from residents and mining associations, sand extractors, government departments and young people to strengthen collective action for environmental protection.
The focus was: understanding stakeholders roles and responsibilities in environmental management & agreeing on practical actions to protect the environment. The facilitator from Environmental Guardian Services (Pvt) Limited unpacked Zimbabwe's environmental laws, policies and institutional frameworks.
Key takeaways included the importance of awareness, corporate social responsibility among mining companies, stakeholder collaboration, and creating livelihood opportunities for young people to address "stomach poverty'. Environmental protection is everyone's responsibility
