At the invitation of the European platform for democratic elections, OpenNet4.0 Zambia is attending 3 days in lusaka on youth participation in electoral processes.

This training comes at a critical time when Zambia has introduced the mixed member proportional representation under Article 47 of the constitution. This simply entails that young people by law are now guaranteed seats in parliament and at local level. OpenNet was well represented by Ms. Prisca Chiwala.

Last week at the invitation of the Cabinet office under the Gender division, OpenNet4.0 Zambia participated in the stakeholders engagement review of the Anti-gender based violence Act No. 1 of 2011.

As an organization we made recommendations taking into account the lived realities that victims and survivors face in their everyday lives. Gaps were identified and recommendations to that effect were made. We hope to see a strengthened Anti- gender based violence Act. We are grateful for the invitation and we also thank other stakeholders that made submissions for the betterment of our country and communities considering the high number of gender based violence cases that we record as a Country.

Today OpenNet was well represented at the Choma district land audit official Lunch which was held at Kozo Lodge.

Land is a diminishing resource so whatever communities and local authorities plan they need to take into account the rights of people and it was very insightful learning key lessons shared from previous land audits and plans for land audits in Choma and timeline.

This timely support from the EU for this couldn't be better as many issues arise on land such as boundary disputes among others many issues that border on land .
