A man lost all of his turkeys after trimming their feathers to stop them from flying into other people's compounds.

Do you think cutting their feathers caused this ?

Livestock farming might look easy but without the right knowledge you might loose your investment and stock.

Let talk about it grab your pen & note!

Feather clipping in turkey is done with a strategy not just cutting.

In turkey 🦃 there are 2 types of feathers

1. Flight feathers
2. Blood feathers

The flight feathers are well matured feathers, if you check where the feather is attached to the wing, iit will be white. Which means it is matured feather and it's used for flying

Blood feathers are growing feathers if you check the base of the feather you'll see it has a brown colour which means it is still growing. Don't ever cut this feather!!! If you cut this feather they will bleed to deeth.

How do you manage a flying turkey 🦃.

Check if it is a flying feather or blood feather, then only cut the flying feather in one wing, don't cut flying feather in both wings. Only one wing cut the flying feather (that has a white base NOT brown base).

That way they're prevented from flying and your birds are safe.

I hope you understand the explanation.

RABBIT FARMING MYTHS DESTROYING DREAMS🐰

One of the biggest reasons people never succeed in rabbit farming is not lack of money it's believing the wrong information.

I've met people who abandoned profitable opportunities because they listened to myths instead of facts.

🐇Some believe rabbits die too easily, yet thousands of farmers raise healthy rabbits successfully every day.

🧑‍🌾Others think rabbit farming is not profitable, while experienced breeders earn income from meat, breeding stock, pets, and even organic manure.

💰Another dangerous myth is that rabbit farming is a "get-rich-quick" business. The truth is that success comes from proper management, patience, and consistency.

🕰️Some people are waiting for the perfect time, the perfect capital, or the perfect location before they begin.

The sad reality is that opportunities are often lost because of fear disguised as caution.

The most successful rabbit farmers are not the ones who know everything—they are the ones who separate facts from myths and take action.

Don't let someone else's ignorance become the reason you never start your own success story.

🐇Which rabbit farming myth have you heard that almost stopped you from taking the first step?

Today I Lost My Favorite Rabbit… And It Reminded Me Why Most People Are Ignoring One of the Most Powerful Livestock Businesses

Today was a heartbreaking day on my farm.

I lost one of my favorite rabbits.

She had been with me for almost three years. She produced several litters over the years, and many of the rabbits I sold today can be traced back to her. Because of my busy schedule lately, I haven't been checking on my rabbits as often as I should, and today I paid the price for that.

Losing an animal you've worked with for years is never easy.

But this loss also reminded me of something important.

Rabbit farming is one of the most underrated livestock businesses today.

Many people talk about poultry, fish farming, goats, and even snails, but very few people truly understand the potential of rabbits.

A single doe (female rabbit) and a buck (male rabbit) can multiply into dozens of rabbits within a year. A healthy doe can produce multiple litters annually, and each litter can contain several kits (baby rabbits).

What makes rabbits unique is their speed of reproduction.

A doe can become pregnant again shortly after giving birth if a buck is left with her. This is why experienced rabbit farmers separate the buck after mating and carefully manage breeding schedules. If not controlled, rabbit numbers can increase faster than many beginners expect.

And that is only one advantage.

Rabbits are quiet.

They don't disturb neighbors.

They don't require massive space.

They don't need expensive housing.

They can be raised in a backyard, garden, or small section of a farm.

Their feeding cost can also be managed. Apart from commercial feed, rabbits can utilize many locally available forages and farm resources when properly managed.

Even their waste has value.

Rabbit droppings are excellent organic manure.

Rabbit urine is widely used by crop farmers as an organic fertilizer and pest control solution.

In simple terms, almost everything from a rabbit can generate value.

The challenge is not production.

The challenge is marketing.

Many farmers can raise rabbits successfully, but selling them consistently remains the biggest obstacle.

That is why rabbit farmers must think beyond selling live rabbits.

Rabbit meat can be processed, roasted, smoked, packaged, supplied to restaurants, sold to health-conscious consumers, and marketed during festive periods when demand for meat increases.

The truth is that rabbit meat is one of the sweetest and leanest meats you can eat. Many people who taste it for the first time are surprised by how good it is.

Yet, despite all these advantages, rabbit farming still receives far less attention than it deserves.

Today's loss hurt.

But it also reminded me of the incredible value rabbits have brought to my farm over the years.

For those who have been following me for a long time, you probably know I keep rabbits, although I rarely post about them.

Maybe it's time I start sharing more rabbit farming content.

If you've ever thought about starting rabbit farming, what is the biggest thing stopping you?

BEST RABBITS FOR MEAT PRODUCTION

If you’re serious about rabbit farming for meat, choosing the right breed makes all the difference.

Top Meat Rabbit Breeds:

✅ New Zealand White
Fast growth, large litters, excellent mothers, and ready for market in just 12–16 weeks.

✅ Silver Fox
Great for both meat and fur. Hardy, calm, and produces heavy carcasses.

✅ Chinchilla

✔ Stronger disease resistance
✔ Excellent meat yield

📌 When selecting breeding stock, choose rabbits with:
✔ Broad shoulders
✔ Deep chests
✔ Thick hindquarters

🚫 Runny noses
🚫 Sore hocks
🚫 Weak body condition

Good genetics = faster growth, healthier kits, and more profitable
