Integrity is the ability to do the right thing regardless of whether one is being watched or not. In other words integrity is a quality of being honest under very strong morals, values and principles.
Integrity is a personality trait that involves having strong principles and using a strict code of ethics to guide your actions. This is an important quality in professional settings for both Leader’s and the citizens. Learning how to behave with integrity can help you contribute to a positive upwork environment, build meaningful relationships and increase national development opportunities.
This is very important in an individual’s life in our country. We have outlined standards and morals at national level but all these have been rendered useless in the absence of Integrity. The absence of Integrity is a breeding ground for most bad vices such as corruption, cheating and thuggery.
In Zambia today, and perhaps in the entire Africa we are struggling with the absence of Integrity and it has affected our development agenda. A good national development process can not succeed in the absence of Integrity, good values, morals and good principles.
If we look into the Zambian history of national development, we have had very good and workable development programs which have failed because of lack of Integrity. In our country today thieves are defended in the name of democracy and they are highly respected and cherished. Zambia being a Christian Nation, we as Zambians have an obligation to obey the Ten commands in the bible because they constitute the basic attributes of integrity.
It is my view that we embrace integrity and fare ness in all our dealings in our beautiful country in order for this country to see meaningful development and prosperity. I wish to encourage my fellow Zambians to take this Issue seriously at both personal and National levels I wish to invite talented writers, researchers and scholars to take advantage of this page and indeed other similar forums to help in providing information and teachings about integrity. As opposed to fighting corruption, let us preach Integrity and it’s benefits.
