April 2026 was a very impactful autism awareness month.
As advocates for our children living with autism, we created⅔ awareness in so many different ways and different platforms.
From the 1st week of April up to the very last.
Refilwe Neo Mafolo Foundation
Supported kefentse asd centre founded by Lindiwe Mashiane gala dinner
Which was so impactful.

Supported our autism boyza Nkazimulo and mom Luleka Lukie on the 5km run that got everyone across the country

Supported ausy Kgomotso Mmalegae Moalusi at Via Nova autism awareness day

We ended by hosting the first annual Soul Healing talk therapy and All night prayee session on the 25th April whereby caregivers of autistic kids where counselled for and motivated.

The world pauses and reflect on Autism.
It then extends to a whole month of which that is ok for the world i guess.
But not for the care giver we live autism daily.
Along the journey we get weary, we get worn, we get caregiver fatigue.
Most important from the day you learn about your child "s diagnosis you get so hurt your inner soul gets so hurt and bruised.

As a mother of a 20 year old, diagnosed at 3 years, I have been in and out of depression so many times. Anxiety is our constant friend.
I suffered a caregiver burnout in 2024 when Neo went to an autidm facility I fondly call tertiary.
I could not believe there were people that could help me with my son for the longest of time i thought i was the only one to raise him.

There has been a lot of counselling I have done.
I have been broken
I went to phychriatric hospitals and they helped BUT
What saved me was Prayer
Prayer healed my inner soul
God put peace where there was chaos
God calmed storms
God mended the broken heart
God put together the shattered pieces of my soul
Because as a mother or parent of a special need child you grief for the life that could have been had your child been neuro typical.
That grief only God can heal it.

If you are this grieving mom
This heart broken mother
This soul bruised caregiver
