Every successful business begins with an idea
------------
Wild Impact in partnership with Jobs Fund is pleased to welcome the 2026 cohort of the Hustle Economy Programme.

Across our Greater Kruger and Greater iSimangaliso landscapes, hustle-preneurs have officially begun the programme’s three-month Foundation Phase a period focused on strengthening the practical foundations required for long-term business growth.

One recent session focused on generating and implementing business ideas, helping hustle-preneurs explore how to identify opportunities within their communities, understand customer needs and shape ideas into viable income-generating enterprises.

It has been encouraging to see strong engagement across the sessions, with participants actively contributing to discussions, asking thoughtful questions and confidently presenting their business ideas.

In one session, hustle-preneurs even brought homemade products to showcase their enterprises, creating meaningful opportunities for peer learning, encouragement and shared feedback.

We look forward to following this cohort’s progress as they continue building stronger businesses within their communities.

Strengthening food security through partnership and practical action 🌱
---------
Through our partnership with Global Nature Fund (GNF) (GNF), Wild Impact continues to strengthen food security and climate resilience across our partner communities through the development of sustainable food production systems.

As part of this collaboration, we have successfully completed 22 shaded food gardens across our project sites — 14 in the Greater iSimangaliso landscape and 8 in the Greater Kruger, adding to the 10 established through the previous phase of the project.

These shaded food gardens are designed to support year-round vegetable production, helping communities respond to increasingly unpredictable climate conditions while strengthening access to fresh, nutritious produce.

The partnership is also creating valuable skills development opportunities. A team of 58 YES4Youth members within our Stars In Training Programme has undergone practical netshade construction training, facilitated by our project farmer advisors, equipping them with hands-on experience and transferable skills.

Through this initiative, 50 Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres will establish fully functional school gardens — strengthening nutrition, sustainability and resilience within the communities we serve.

Building Futures from the Very Beginning

Early childhood development is the foundation of opportunity and long-term success. The earliest years of a child’s life are not just formative—they are transformative. During this critical window, cognitive, emotional, and social development take shape, influencing a child’s ability to learn, grow, and thrive for a lifetime.

Across the South African landscapes where we work, Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres that we partner with are nurturing this potential every single day.

We currently support 137 ECD sites embedded within local communities—70 in the Greater Kruger region and 67 in Greater iSimangaliso. These centres do more than provide early learning; they are safe, supportive environments where children are encouraged to explore, imagine, and develop a lifelong love of learning through active, play-based approaches.

But their impact extends even further.
Each centre creates employment opportunities for community members, empowering local educators and strengthening livelihoods. In this way, ECD is not only an investment in children—it is an investment in entire communities.

However, many of these centres face a critical challenge: meeting government compliance standards.
When an ECD centre achieves compliance, it qualifies for a government subsidy of R24 per child, per day. This funding is essential. It ensures that children receive nutritious daily meals and that dedicated teachers are supported in their vital roles. Most importantly, it creates a sustainable model that allows centres to grow, improve, and serve more families over time.

Without compliance, centres are excluded from this funding—and children miss out.

This is where your support makes a lasting difference.
By investing in compliance support—such as infrastructure improvements, water tanks, the purchase of fire hydrants and potties, and other resource provision—you help unlock sustainable government funding for each centre. Your contribution doesn’t just provide a once-off benefit; it creates a continuous stream of support that uplifts children, families, and interns long into the future.

The items we require to unlock government funding:
Potties: $10
Toilet seats: $15
Windows: $35
Fire Hydrants: $55
Hippo Rollers: $180
5lt Water tank: $250
10lt Water tank: $500

Ensure daily nutrition for growing minds and bodies
Empower interns with the resources and support they need
Strengthen local economies through job creation
Build a sustainable foundation for lifelong success
Every compliant centre represents a ripple effect of opportunity.
Every child reached is a future strengthened.

Join us in building exceptional futures—starting from the very beginning.

Celebrating Joy Sang’una’s Academic Achievement 🎓✨
----------
From the Lamadi community to becoming a 2025 graduate of the College of Business Education, Joy Sang’una’s journey reflects determination, resilience and the power of opportunity.

With support from the CLEF Bursary Programme, she successfully completed both a Diploma in Business Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Taxation, building a strong foundation in business operations, financial management and accounting.

Joy shares that this opportunity helped shape her into a more confident, responsible and determined young professional.

Beyond her academic achievements, she developed valuable life skills including discipline, effective planning, teamwork and resource management — qualities that will support her as she takes the next steps in her professional journey.

As she looks to the future, Joy hopes to apply her knowledge and skills in meaningful ways that contribute to both her community and broader economic development.

Congratulations, Joy, on this remarkable achievement. We look forward to seeing where your journey takes you next.

“Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today” - Malcolm X.

Little footprints on dusty ground, full of excitement, can lead to the biggest steps in a child’s educational journey. That one big step begins a day filled with many things we often take for granted.

Together, We Can:
✔ Expand access to quality early learning
✔ Ensure daily nutrition for growing children
✔ Empower educators and community stewards
✔ Create jobs and strengthen local economies
✔ Build a foundation for lifelong success

The Opportunity
This is where you can make a lasting difference.
By supporting or investing in compliance—through infrastructure upgrades, water storage tanks, fire safety equipment, sanitation resources, and more—you help unlock ongoing government funding for each centre.
This isn’t a once-off impact. It’s a sustainable ripple effect.

A landscape of vibrant diversity

The 32 500-ha Lake Manyara National Park has been a UNESCO Man and Biosphere reserve since 1981, highlighting its importance in the regional landscape.

Our partner communities are the Moya and Mayoka communities, located to the south of the park and adjacent to the Lake. They are home to over 7 600 residents, who are largely dependent on subsistence farming and livestock keeping.

Over the past 5 years, we have been privileged to provide significant support for the development of the local clinic and primary schools, and support for the establishment of a new secondary school.

In addition, we have recently implemented a Climate Resilient Communities programme in response to the reality that both communities are being directly affected by climate change.

The Harmony with Wildlife project is being implemented to nurture ongoing support for the protection of resident and transient wildlife.

In collaboration with Tanzania National Parks and andBeyond Travel, we are also piloting a habitat restoration programme clearing bush encroachment and alien plant species.

Munywana Pangolin Reintroduction Project.
---------
The Munywana Pangolin Re-Introduction project was initiated in June 2019.

The project was initiated in partnership with the African Pangolin Conservation Group to bring this species back to KwaZulu-Natal.

An undisclosed number of animals have been introduced to-date, all recovered from illegal wildlife poachers and traders in undercover operations involving several law enforcement authorities.

The extreme stress of this experience necessitates a period of stabilisation and rehabilitation by the African Pangolin Working Group’s specialist veterinary team before their monitored soft release into the Conservancy

Strengthening Marine Research
----------
As part of Oceans Without Borders’ expanded reef health assessments, a new monitoring survey is underway in support of our Save Our Seas Foundation -funded project. The focus of this work is to help identify biodiversity hotspots within the Mnemba Island Marine Conservation Area (MIMCA), with the aim of informing the establishment of fisheries replenishment zones.

A key emphasis is placed on understanding reef health through the presence and distribution of important shark and ray species, alongside broader reef fish communities.

Under the leadership of Bradley van Heerden, Data and Research Manager for Oceans Without Borders, the Mnemba Baited Remote Underwater Video Surveys (BRUVS) were conducted in early May across nine sites surrounding the Mnemba Island atoll.

As OWB’s first comprehensive BRUV deployment in the area, this work is establishing a critical baseline of fish species composition and community structure across the reef ecosystem.

Together, these efforts provide essential scientific insight to guide science-led conservation planning and the protection of biodiverse and resilient marine ecosystems within MIMCA.
