At The Open Door, we carry that torch by protecting the children and youth of today. We believe every child deserves to grow up in a home free from violence and fear.

Today, we celebrate the resilience of our young survivors and recommit to building a safer South Africa for them to lead.

As the winter chill sets in, a warm meal becomes more than just sustenance—it becomes a message of care.

Our shelter is currently in need of non-perishable pantry essentials to ensure that the families in our care are nourished and strengthened. When you donate to our pantry, you are providing the fuel needed for the difficult journey of healing.

On 2 June, as part of Child Protection Week, The Open Door Crisis Care Centre visited Utinco Daycare Centre to raise awareness about child protection in a fun, engaging, and child-friendly way.

The day was filled with songs, storytelling, and interactive safety games that taught children about body safety and being cautious around strangers. The learners also shared some of their favourite songs with us, making the visit even more special.

To help keep the children warm this winter, we donated knitted beanies, jerseys, and blankets, and enjoyed refreshments together. Their smiles, excitement, and gratitude reminded us of the importance of creating safe, supportive environments where children can learn, grow, and thrive.
