Our mentors and mentees got the chance to visit the Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg for our mentoring session today.

It's important that as future-focused leaders, we are informed and empowered with knowledge that shapes our future.

We are grateful to the Apartheid Museum team for a great day spent. Our team learned a lot.

Today marks World Teacher's day - a day set aside to honour, acknowledge and celebrate the hard working men and women who actively build futures and leaders through what they do inside the classrooms, every day.

May their efforts be valued, may they not go unnoticed, may their working environments continue to be conducive for their safety, dignity and their overall development as well. May their professions be respected by all and preserved too.

Here's to all the amazing teachers out there!

May your first day back at school for Term 4, be as remarkable as the roles you play.

Every child deserves a champion.

On the 26th of September 2026, we hosted our 18th Mentoring session for the year under the "Vintage meets Heritage" theme as executed by the Lebone fundraising committee. This was our way of celebrating our heritage and our roots through what we wear.

We always encourage traditional attires during heritage month each year but the vintage theme brought a sense of class, style and nostalgia to our celebration of heritage.

We encourage team members to bring suggestions on how sessions can be enhanced and improved and this was one typical example, put in motion.

Congratulations to Mentor Lisa and her fundraising team for the idea and stunning ex*****on - we were all proud to support and see the day come alive. The mentees put in a great effort on their outfits and it was a beautiful display of fashion and style.

On the session, we also saw a spectacular array of talent and creativity through the various items on display. There was a significant appreciation of the time it took to prepare and rehearse all talent show acts.

This is proof of how our space at Lebone, encourages creative expression, self-awareness, identity, belonging and discovering of self. We are proud to be a platform for young people to explore and discover themselves through their talents and what sets their souls alight.

We had a special guest Seforo Motshekga who came to inspire us to embrace our roots and heritage and to take pride in what it represents to our holistic development. We were blessed by his company and we take this opportunity to also wish him well on his Foundation - Tshedimoso Association and we are optimistic for fruitful partnerships and collaborations into the future. Here's to empowering more communities and intentionally investing into the future of this country through small, consistent acts.

As we wrapped up Heritage month, let's take pride in our backgrounds and roots. May this period also bring us closer as families, friends and the impact community at large, coming from all walks of life to a common purpose of belonging through diversity.

Congratulations to all the participating mentees, for the efforts, passion and creative flare showcased. Well done to the Kofifi girls for winning our Talent Show.

We are now only five sessions away until we close off the year - we take this time to appreciate the committed team members, the parents, the mentees and everyone around us for their consistent support in our work and mission. We are, because of everyone who pours into our cup.

See you all on the 10th of October for our next session.

The second October 2026 session also sees our annual Spelling Bee competition return. See you then.
