Gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF) is not a private matter. It is a profound social justice, human rights and development challenge that demands collective action from government, communities, law enforcement, civil society and every individual
Today, as part of Orange Day, the MEC for Social Development, Ms Manopole, calls on communities across the Northern Cape to confront the conditions that perpetuate violence against women and girls, including poverty, economic vulnerability, harmful social norms, inequality, substance abuse and silence
Lifeline Northern Cape plays an important role in providing counselling, psychosocial support, crisis intervention, GBV awareness, HIV and health education, referrals and community-based support services. Through its outreach programmes, Lifeline Northern Cape continues to empower communities to recognise violence, break the silence and seek help
Today is more than a campaign it is a call to challenge harmful attitudes, strengthen families, empower women and girls, protect vulnerable people, support survivors and hold perpetrators accountable.
