KWF Community Development Trust

KWF Community Development Trust KWFCDT seeks to be a catalyst that empowers communities to be resilient, self-reliant & sustainable.

Our Vision is to be a catalyst that empowers communities to be resilient, self-reliant, and sustainable. A sustainable community manages its human, natural and financial capital to meet current needs while ensuring that adequate resources are available for future generations. Sustainable communities are places where people want to live and work. They meet the diverse needs of existing and future r

esidents, are sensitive to their environment, and contribute to a high quality of life. They are safe and inclusive, well planned, built and managed, and offer equal opportunity and good services for all. A resilient community can withstand, adapt to and recover from adversity. Community resilience is the sustained ability of a community to use available resources (energy, communication, transportation, food, etc.) to respond to, withstand and recover from adverse situations (e.g., economic collapse, natural disasters). An empowered community is an enabled community that have control over their lives. It means the community has the resources and talent to manage its affairs, to control and influence relevant groups and forces within and outside the community, and to develop empowered leaders and community organisations. Our Mission is to fund and support interventions aimed at improving the quality of life, and the quality of education & skills through collaboration with key stakeholders

In our role as a catalyst, the Trust focuses on issues or systemic problems that stand in the way or prohibits our communities to become thriving, resilient, sustainable and empowered and we work collaboratively with others to achieve our vision and mission. Our Values
✅ Trustworthy
✅ Engaged
✅ Collaborative
✅ Empowering

Our Approach

Last week, the Kouga Wind Farm Community Development Trust hosted a valuable catch-up session with the Food Mamas and Principals who are part of the Trust’s ECD Nutrition Programme. 🥗

The session was led by The Lunchbox Fund (the Trust’s implementation partner) and brought everyone involved in the programme together. The goal was to reflect on, and strengthen the work being done across participating ECD centres.

The Food Mamas and Principals play a vital role in the success of the programme because every meal prepared and served contributes to the child’s ability to better participate in their early development journey.

Through the ECD Nutrition Programme, the Trust continues to support early childhood development by ensuring that young children receive nutritious meals in safe and caring learning environments. 🙏
