KWF Community Development Trust

KWF Community Development Trust KWFCDT seeks to be a catalyst that empowers communities to be resilient, self-reliant & sustainable.
(1)

Our Vision is to be a catalyst that empowers communities to be resilient, self-reliant, and sustainable. A sustainable community manages its human, natural and financial capital to meet current needs while ensuring that adequate resources are available for future generations. Sustainable communities are places where people want to live and work. They meet the diverse needs of existing and future r

esidents, are sensitive to their environment, and contribute to a high quality of life. They are safe and inclusive, well planned, built and managed, and offer equal opportunity and good services for all. A resilient community can withstand, adapt to and recover from adversity. Community resilience is the sustained ability of a community to use available resources (energy, communication, transportation, food, etc.) to respond to, withstand and recover from adverse situations (e.g., economic collapse, natural disasters). An empowered community is an enabled community that have control over their lives. It means the community has the resources and talent to manage its affairs, to control and influence relevant groups and forces within and outside the community, and to develop empowered leaders and community organisations. Our Mission is to fund and support interventions aimed at improving the quality of life, and the quality of education & skills through collaboration with key stakeholders

In our role as a catalyst, the Trust focuses on issues or systemic problems that stand in the way or prohibits our communities to become thriving, resilient, sustainable and empowered and we work collaboratively with others to achieve our vision and mission. Our Values
✅ Trustworthy
✅ Engaged
✅ Collaborative
✅ Empowering

Our Approach

The Kouga Wind Farm Community Development Trust (KWFCDT) joins the continent is celebrating Africa Day 2026 under the annual theme: “Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063.” 🌍

Access to safe water and dignified sanitation remains one of the foundations of healthy, resilient, and sustainable communities.

As the continent reflects on this year’s theme, the KWFCDT continues to recognise the role community-driven infrastructure plays in improving quality of life and unlocking opportunity.

Over the years, the Trust has invested in projects that respond directly to these challenges, including the KLM Drought Mitigation Project, which focused on saving water, improving ageing infrastructure, and upgrading sanitation facilities to create healthier learning environments while reducing water consumption. The intervention included water-saving systems, upgraded ablution facilities, and water backup solutions that continue to strengthen community resilience. 💧

The Trust has also supported the Umzamowethu Retrofit Project, which included a sanitation component aimed at eliminating environmental and unhealthy living conditions while promoting safe, dignified, and sustainable living environments for beneficiary communities.

These initiatives reflect the Trust’s continued commitment to building communities that are resilient, self-reliant, and sustainable, one intervention at a time. 🙏

Happy Africa Day to all the community members, and the rest of the African continent! 🥳

The Kouga Wind Farm Community Development Trust recently met with the Kouga Local Municipality to discuss opportunities for social development across local communities.

The engagement focused on a proposed partnership to support the revitalisation of the Humansdorp Public Swimming Pool facility, including the reinstatement and upgrade of the existing dilapidated pool, improved access control and supporting facilities. 🏊

The project aims to restore an important community asset and expand access to recreation for residents of KwaNomzamo, Arcadia, Kruisfontein and the greater Humansdorp area. Beyond recreation, the discussions highlighted the role that quality community infrastructure can play in youth development.

The Trust values opportunities to engage with partners in exploring projects that contribute towards sustainable communities. 🙏

Hearing directly from young people whose lives are being impacted through various opportunities is always deeply encouraging. ❤️

The Kouga Wind Farm Community Development Trust proudly celebrates Anthonique “Nicky” Jacobs, one of the 15 Graduates of the Work Readiness and Core Waiter Training Programme, funded by the Trust and delivered by Injongo FET & SETA College. Nicky completed hospitality training before gaining seasonal employment at St Francis Links, an opportunity that has now secured her permanent employment! 👏

Stories like these highlight the importance of investing in skills development and youth-focused programmes that create pathways to employment. This programme is one of many Trust projects under the Education and Skills Development Pillar, in line with the Trust’s operating model and guided by its 70/20/10 Strategy Framework.

Congratulations Nicky on this achievement, may you continue to grow and succeed in your career. 🙏

On 23–24 April 2026, the Kouga Wind Farm Community Development Trust was honoured to be part of the two-day Kouga Careers Expo at Mentors Country Estate. 🥳

It was an engaging and impactful event, connecting with learners and parents who were eager for guidance and information. The Trust was proud to support and sponsor 210 matric learners from Humansdorp Secondary School and 158 learners from Lungiso High School to attend and actively participate in the exhibition. 🙏

Such events and opportunities highlight the importance of exposure for young people. When they are equipped with knowledge and opportunity, the whole community stands to benefit.

Thank you to every learner, parent and visitor who stopped by and engaged. And thank you to the Working World Exhibition for creating platforms for young people to explore their futures. 👏
