Remembering and honouring Lifa Klaas, a valued member of the Hobbiton family who faithfully served our outdoor education centre for just over 14 years.

Lifa was far more than a maintenance staff member. He was a steady and dependable presence whose hard work, practical skills, and willingness to help played a vital role in the daily life of Hobbiton. Much of what functioned smoothly behind the scenes was because of his dedication and care.

Whether repairing equipment, fixing a problem, or quietly lending a helping hand, Lifa served with humility, commitment, and pride. He helped create a safe, welcoming, and beautiful environment for every child, visitor, and staff member who came through our gates.

He will be remembered not only for the work he did, but for the reliability, and spirit of service he showed every day. His contribution to Hobbiton leaves a lasting legacy, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Lifa. Your work and presence will not be forgotten.

Congratulations to Zinhle Sibiya and Kgotlaethata “Danny” Mogori, who recently received their Adventure Tourism Management qualification after completing a six-month practical internship at Hobbiton. We are proud to have been part of their journey and wish them every success as they move forward in their careers in the outdoor education and tourism industry.
