Founded in 1990, the Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust (HACT) is a registered Non Profit organisation in South Africa dedicated to saving and transforming lives.

Our focus areas include:

HIV EDUCATION & PREVENTION
HACT delivers age-appropriate, evidence-based programmes proven to reduce new HIV infections as well as inspire and mobilize healthy living advocates. HACT recognises that women and young girls are particularly vulnerable, which is why many of our programmes are tailor made to address their unique needs and challenges. HIV HEALTHCARE
HACT offer

s holistic and comprehensive healthcare services to individuals, families and communities that align with South Africa’s National Strategic Plan on HIV/AIDS, TB & STI’s. These services include HIV testing, TB & STI screening, home-based and inpatient care as well as adherence counselling. HIV SUPPORT & FAMILY STRENGTHENING
HACT provides targeted support to vulnerable and at-risk groups such as orphaned and vulnerable children as well as gogos (grandmothers) caring for such children. Through our innovative HIV programmes we are able to build the capacity and resilience of local families and communities. ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT
HACT’s award-winning economic empowerment projects help create brighter futures for HIV impacted families and communities through practical skills development and training opportunities which bring about sustainable job creation and poverty alleviation. HACT BIZ
HACT Biz has been established to increase HACT’s sustainability as well as provide much needed skills development, training and employment opportunities for the disadvantaged communities we serve. HACT Biz is 100% owned by HACT the NPO, thereby making our NPO beneficiaries the full beneficiaries of all profits made from our business. This also means all social enterprises started and owned by HACT under HACT Biz, are level 1 B-BBEE contributors, making HACT the ideal organisation for your company to partner with to improve its B-BBEE scorecard.

The same spirit of 𝗨𝗯𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘂 that makes the Comrades Marathon so special is what drew her to run for HACT. Having grown up in Kloof, she has seen the important role we play in supporting and uplifting those around us, and she is proud to give back to a cause so close to home.

This year, Brendan is taking on the Comrades Marathon in support of HACT for the very first time!

We first met 𝗕𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿 at the Comrades Expo, where he visited our stand and took the time to learn more about the work we do in the communities we serve.

After connecting with our team and seeing the impact of our programmes firsthand, he was truly inspired by the difference being made on the ground.

This year, Bill has chosen to take on the Comrades Marathon in support of the 𝗛𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗜𝗗𝗦 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁.

His journey comes at a time when the need for funding in our communities continues to grow, and every step on this 85km challenge helps shine a light on the work being done and the lives being changed every day.

𝗧𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗼 is running for HACT for the 𝟯𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 this year!

This year’s Comrades Marathon marks another chapter in a journey rooted in purpose, remembrance, and giving back. Once again, he will be running in support of the Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust, an organisation dedicated to strengthening vulnerable communities through healthcare, education, and economic empowerment.

This run carries deep personal meaning, honouring a mother whose life reflected compassion and service as a nurse. Her legacy of kindness and selflessness continues to inspire every step of this journey.

Although this year’s Comrades route measures 85.77km, every kilometre remains a test of endurance, resilience, and heart. The goal is to turn each kilometre into impact, aiming to raise 𝗥𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗔𝗖𝗧’𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸.
