Although International Nursesโ€™ Day was earlier this week, Fridays are the one day Camdeboo Hosipices nursing staff gather together at the office, as they spend most of their time out in the field caring for patients and supporting families in our community.

Today, we would therefore like to honour Sister Norma Maitland and her dedicated team of palliative care trained home-based caregivers for the incredible work they do each day. Your compassion, strength, and commitment bring comfort, dignity, and care to those who need it most.

Thank you for the difference you make in so many lives. Your work does not go unnoticed, and we are deeply grateful for each one of you.

๐—ช๐—˜๐—Ÿ๐—Ÿ ๐——๐—ข๐—ก๐—˜ to Grade 12 learner ๐—”๐˜€๐—ต๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ถ๐—ด๐—ต ๐—ฆ๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—น๐—น on completing the 25km Camdeboo Hospice Hike & Hobble fundraising event this past Saturday, 9 May. Taking on this meaningful challenge alongside her mom, Union High School, Graaff-Reinet secretary Sharon Krige, makes the achievement all the more special.

Dear Friends and Supporters of Hospice, due to a high number of learners being off sick, the school has unfortunately had to cancel the event in aid of Camdeboo Hospice.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank everyone for their understanding and support.

Camdeboo Hospice Hike & Hobble:

How do we adequately thank all the supporters of Camdeboo Hospice after the 2026 Hike & Hobble? A simple โ€œthank youโ€ can never fully convey our heartfelt gratitude.

To all our incredible volunteers who manned the support vehicles, and to our local businesses who got up early to set up gazebos and spoil our runners and cyclists with delicious food, warm drinks, and sweet treats to keep everyone going in the cold โ€” Thank You. Your generosity and support mean the world to us.

We deeply appreciate the continued support from all our local businesses, and we extend a warm welcome to Queen Midas Graaff-Reinet as a new supporter of the event.

To all our runners and cyclists โ€” thank you for your enthusiasm and participation. Without you, there would be no Hike & Hobble!

A very special thank you to Howard and Judy Sheard for providing our wonderful new stay-over venue at Weltevreden for the two-day competitors.
