Real strength is taking your health seriously.
Men are often taught to push through pain, stay quiet, and keep going. But looking after your health is not weakness. It’s responsibility.
This Men’s Health Month, the APCC encourages men and boys to take their health seriously: to ask questions, seek support, and not wait until things become critical.
Across South Africa, APCC members provide compassionate palliative care to men facing serious illness, offering pain management, emotional support, home-based care, and dignity throughout every stage of the journey.
No one should have to face illness alone.

What a wonderful day celebrating National Cancer Survivors Day at Estcourt Hospice on the 6th June 2026. The day started with a very well supported fun colour walk. Then we had entertainment from Alex and Vishaylin. Mr Sookraj, our Hospice Chairman then interviewed a few staff members, Quinten Swanepoel our treasurer and Belinda Smith our Fundraiser to explain more about what services we provide, and what we need to remain sustainable. We then treated all the cancer survivors to a special lunch and they all received lovely hampers donated by Nestlé and Mackson's supermarket. A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL WHO MADE THIS DAY POSSIBLE 💛

Hospice Week 2026 is here.
This week we stand for one simple truth: every South African deserves the provision of palliative care services, insured or not. Our theme is Access for All, Recognition by All.
Palliative care is a human right. It provides comfort, dignity, and quality of life for patients facing life-limiting illness, and vital support for their families. Across South Africa, APCC-accredited palliative care centres and hospices deliver this care every day, often under constrained conditions, and without consistent recognition or funding.
APCC members care for approximately 40,000 patients a year. Behind every number is a name, a family, a journey. This week, we share those stories.

Behind every statistic is a person. Behind every person, a story.
Meet Nonthobeka, cared for by Knysna Sedgefield Hospice, an APCC member that has long been a pillar of compassionate, community-centred palliative care in the Garden Route.
Her story is one of thousands. This Hospice Week, we honour every patient and every family who has walked this road, and every interdisciplinary team who has walked it with them.
