Under careful hands and consistent effort, this crop has grown into a truly rewarding harvest. Seeing these full, vibrant heads of cabbage ready for market is proof that agriculture is not just farming — it is business, it is skill, and it is opportunity.

This project is about youth skills development — learning practical agricultural techniques, crop management, irrigation, pest control, harvesting, and post-harvest handling. These are skills that create independence, confidence, and long-term sustainability.

And beyond the field, there is the business side. By selling this fresh produce to local markets and communities, we are turning hard work into real financial benefit. Agriculture continues to show that it can be a reliable source of income, job creation, and economic growth. 💚

For many vulnerable families in Ntabamhlophe, KwaZulu-Natal, access to a single nutritious meal each day is made possible through the dedicated efforts of our Community Nutrition Development Centres.

As we enter a season traditionally marked by celebration, warmth, and togetherness, ADA remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring that the most vulnerable members of our communities are not forgotten. This festive period, while joyous for many, can be especially difficult for households facing food insecurity.

For this reason, ADA continues to provide freshly prepared, nutritious meals to those in need—offering not only sustenance, but also dignity, hope, and a sense of belonging.

At Action Development Agency, Skills Development is one of our 5 core pillars of Service—and we're putting it into practice every day.

Our learners are currently enrolled in an AGRISETA-ACCREDITED Plant Production NQF Level 2 Course in Gauteng, gaining nationally recognized qualifications while building real-world agricultural expertise.

THIS WEEK'S PRACTICAL TRAINING (Week 43):

Production Area A: Dr F & F External beneficiaries conducting weeding operations.

Production Area B: Cypermethrin application - learning integrated pest management to combat cutworm infestation

Open Field: Land preparation in progression - hands-on experience in soil management and field readiness.

This is education with impact. Our learners aren't just sitting in classrooms—they're in the fields, in the greenhouses, getting their hands dirty and their minds sharp. From pest control to land preparation, they're mastering the full spectrum of plant production.

Creating Partnerships to Further Our Reach

Access to clean drinking water is a right — not a privilege. Yet, for many rural families in KwaZulu-Natal, boreholes that once sustained life have fallen into disrepair.

Through our Community 1st Boreholes Initiative, Action Development Agency — in partnership with OYU Green and local stakeholders — is restoring hope by rehabilitating boreholes across the uThukela District Municipality.

From removing old, rusted pipes to repainting and repairing pumps, each restored borehole brings life back to the community — ensuring safe, reliable, and sustainable access to water.

Over 100 boreholes in Ntabamhlophe now flow again.
