Empowering Imams to Preserve the Deen
We provide education, resources, and leadership training to Imams across Africa, helping them serve their communities better. 🌍
Currently empowering 592 Imams in 14 African countries. Namely, South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia, Botswana and Tanzania. Through our training, we have enhanced the effectiveness of our imams to better serve their communities. And through our imams we can touch the lives of over 2 million people each year. This includes weekly jumuahs, thousands of children learning to recite Quran, combating gang violence and drug addiction, spreading dawa to non- muslims to mention but a few of an imam community engagements

We invite you to participate in this great initiative and help us, help our imams change the world for the better. This is a project under Mercy Mission World with partners including IPCI, IDM, Deenclass, Council of African Scholars, AlKauthar Institute and WAMY.

This October, over 100 Imams will come together in South Africa for the Imam Development Program’s International Imam Leadership Summit.

Under the theme “From Madinah to Africa,” we draw inspiration from the Prophet’s ﷺ example of leadership and service, reflecting on how we can better guide, support and care for our communities.

Every Imam attending serves people who look to him for guidance. This gathering is about what he can take back to them.
📅 4–6 October 2026
📍 Apollo Hotel, Randburg, Johannesburg, South Africa

Follow our countdown and share this message as we prepare to bring our Imams together.

What if one gift could continue benefiting the Ummah long after you are gone?

A mosque, a Qur’an, a wheelchair, a building or even a fund can become part of a Waqf, an endowment dedicated to serving others for the long term.

It is a way to build something that continues giving and, by the permission of Allah, becomes a source of ongoing reward.

Build an asset. Fund a legacy.

Follow the link in the description to pledge towards the IDP Waqf.

Help us build a Waqf that can continue funding IDP’s work for years to come.

Through rental income generated from the Waqf property, IDP can build a more sustainable source of revenue to support the development of Imams and the communities they serve.

Your contribution can help create an asset that keeps giving, month after month and year after year.

Help us build the Waqf. Build an Asset, Fund a Legacy.

Have a Blessed Jummu'ah

Imam Ismail from Zambia reflects on one of the most beautiful parts of his first Umrah journey: the brotherhood he experienced along the way.

From Malawi, Uganda, Zambia, South Africa and beyond, everyone came together with love, respect and unity. Different countries, different backgrounds, yet everyone felt like a brother.

A reminder that Islam brings hearts together, wherever we come from.
