Distance For Difference

10/10/2026

David Takaruza recently won the 21.1 km trail run at The GRATITUDE Run. I’m raising funds to help him develop his running talent and earn a living.

R6,700 of our R42,000 target has already been donated. Thank you to everyone who has contributed.

A local coffee company has also offered to train David as a barista for free!

David moved to South Africa at 2 and matriculated at Rusthof Secondary School. We’re now seeking advice on the paperwork he needs to work legally here.

Further donations will help with his running development, transport and the costs of professional advice and documentation.

Please support his BackaBuddy campaign or share it with someone who could help.

If you can assist with the immigration process, please contact me at [email protected].

This is my personal initiative, independent of D4D.

The GRATITUDE Run 2026, beautifully captured.

A huge thank you to Calvin Janos for producing this excellent overview video of this year’s event at Dornier Wines, Stellenbosch

It captures so much of what made the day special: the runners, walkers, relay teams, volunteers, supporters, the beautiful setting and the atmosphere that made Heritage Day such a memorable one.

More than 800 people took part across the different events, all in support of Distance For Difference and our work with children in need.

Thank you again to every participant, volunteer, sponsor, partner and supporter who helped make the day possible.

And Calvin, thank you for telling the story so well!
