When I was little, I’d flip off the basement light and sprint up the stairs like my life depended on it. I knew nothing was down there waiting to grab me, but I wasn’t taking chances. Our daughter’s the same way — if she has to walk down the hall at night, every light comes on, and she hollers for her dad. She knows he’ll come. She knows he’s her protector.
Darkness has a way of making us forget what we already know. It whispers fear and uncertainty. But light — light reminds us of truth. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
When the disciples were caught in storms, they looked for Jesus. When we’re caught in our own — the ones that look like grief, anxiety, or waiting — we can look for Him too. He’s not just the light that shines on us; He’s the light that leads us.
So today, when the world feels dim, flip the switch. Call out to your Father. Run toward the light. Because there’s nothing like the love and protection of the One who never leaves you in the dark.
Grace & Peace,
Amie
